So, I just got a kindle fire and sideloaded DosBox turbo after purchasing it on my (android) phone. Since then, I have been tweaking the configs for the best results. The Fire seems capable of running many of the GoG dosbox games. As I get games running I'll list them here with any notes I might have.

This does not require root access. However, the "Hacker's Keyboard" is very convenient in some games, and getting that does require root access. Otherwise, the other issues aside from speed/performance are playability. Generally, I have found that games that can be played primarily with a mouse work the best. those that do not have mouse alternatives to keyboard commands can be more challenging. Also, those that require frequent & rapid mouse movement (shooters) are difficult as well.

For all dosbox configs, I remove anything that isn't essential. Not sure if it improved performance, but it couldn't hurt. So, GUS is removed, Serial devices, Joystick support, etc. Otherwise deviating from the GoG choices, such as raising or lowering CPU cycles, hasn't yielded better results, although I haven't done too much systematic tweaking there yet.

Games so far:

Darklands: Playable, a little sluggish in battles. I disable sound for better performance and because I haven't gotten sound to work very well in this.

Stonekeep: Running sk.exe loads to a black screen, and nothing else happens. I waited about 10 minutes before exiting.

Ultima4: Works very well, including with the VGA patch.

Ultima7: Playable, sluggish movement, though only slightly worse than the non-Exult version. Sound is a little choppy.

Masters of Magic: Works very well. Loading takes a little time, about 70 seconds to build a new world (large) and start the new game.
