Wishbone: I have to admit, I'm not a big fan of trance. It's long, it's repetetive and one piece sounds much like another.
There, now that I've alienated all the trance lovers, let me say that as far as I'm able to judge, this is very well made, and has some very nice parts, especially the vocal parts. This piece would fit well as background music to a nice 2D space shooter.
To fit my particular tastes, this should be cut in half, just about, by shortening the less interesting and more repetetive stretches between the bits where something actually happens in the music, but then I already explained how I feel about the genre in general. I think it's a pity though, because I actually like the style, if only it wasn't so long and so, well, boring. If trance musicians cut down their compositions and made them more varied, I think they'd attract a much wider audience.
Anyway, long story short, as these things go, I think it's very good.
Well, yea. It really depends on one's taste, and how one understands trance. You like them short, I guess something like ATB's style, where tracks range from 3 to 5 minutes?
I, on the other hand, like the tracks more when they are epic in length. Take for instance, the XDR Long Remix of Burned With Desire (by Armin and Markus), or Tiesto's In Search of Sunrise remix of Silence, with tracks ranging from 11 to 13 minutes.
Its about the introduction, then the build up, the uplifting part. Then you get to the highest point of the track, where all emotions are in place. After that, you get to the breakdown and the outro.
But in the end, as I said, its depends on your taste and how you understand trance. :)
