So I don't like zombie games... zombies are over done these days and I don't find them interesting because their all bullet spongy and slow... and not frightening...

That was my belief until I bought Nation Red on the steam sale and realized that zombie games arn't all boring and that indie games arn't all that bad. But what is Nation Red? Well here are the basics...

Metal music
Zombie slaying
Over 100 perks ranging from an explosion from sky to getting random grenades every 30 seconds.
tons of guns from pistols to AA12's (and on Steam only steam hammer)
A developer that listens to it's community...

How does the dev listen to it's community? There is a section on the steam forums that is dedicated to perk ideas by the community that the dev's will put in game. The community wanted online and local co-op... the dev's did it. The dev's rock!

Why am I posting this here? I wanted to know if anyone else here on GOG has this game on Steam and wanted to do a few rounds with me, and to tell people about this amazing game so that they might buy it now while it's on sale (1.42 I believe)

So have any of you played this game? What did you think?
I have tried Nation Red, but I found it to be a pale imitation of Crimsonland, which has better perks and more interesting weapons. Besides which, zombies are overdone these days.

OK I have to say it, but I think the zombie phase is over. Yeah Dead Rising 3 is out, but its not that big of an anticipated game, and yeah the DayZ stand alone is coming soon but everyone already played the crap out of it as a mod.

Seriously the zombie hype has chilled out now.

I just checked it out, here's the link in case anyone else would like to as well: http://store.steampowered.com/app/39800/?snr=1_7_15__13 I have never played, or heard of it till now/
I'll never be bored of zombie games because there is a specific feature about them... they're the undead so there's not much morality or guilt involved with shooting them, which you have anytime you shoot at enemy types that are human. I don't feel as comfortable killing Arabs, Russians, South Americans, whatever other latest propaganda human "enemy" type that shooter games want me to shoot at as of late.

So whenever another zombie game shows up, I just look at whether or not this particular game looks fun to play (especially if it's an action game), or has good atmosphere (especially if it's survival-horror), etc. and I don't mind that it's another zombie game.

The barebones alpha of the standalone DayZ has been the Steam best-seller for the entire duration of the winter sale at a price of $40, and 7 Days to Die is getting pretty high on the charts despite offering extremely little for a ridiculous price. The zombie phase is far from over, regardless of how sick of it people are.

Agreed. It's barely even begun.

Games like Dead Rising 3 aren't exactly in the same category as games like DayZ. One focuses on zombie smashing, of which there are plenty of other similar titles. The other focuses more on survival, which is a barren enough genre that even a game as bad as 'the War Z' can be a top seller on Steam.
Pfft. There's not a single game in the genre that can even touch the greatness that is (the original) 'Typing of the Dead.' Too bad it isn't available for purchase from any digital distributor.
I could never get into DayZ - I found it too clunky and too dull.

On the other hand, I never liked the excessive hecticness of Left 4 Dead either.

Zombi U is the perfect zombie game for me - atmospheric, perfectly paced and oddly realistic. Makes good use of the Wii U's gamepad as well.

And I do have a special place in my heart for the House of the Dead games, although that's probably due to the endearing bad dialogue in the first three games and the overblown grindhouse feel in Overkill.

I remember this!
It was that OK zombie game that had like two different arenas and got boring as heck very quickly.
Good times.
For me thats: Resident Evil for the PS.
A funny Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare is my 2nd fav.

I just think everyone does not have to be bent out of shape over this. To me the zombie phase ended with The War Z. Now I just don't care anymore I just pick what I want to play and I am still waiting this game to finally finish:

They've added a bunch more maps and modes and stuff because the community asked for it lol

And as to the zombie faze, not sure if it's zombies or the survival genre, it seems like almost ever game coming out (indie that is) is a survival game similar to DayZ whether it has zombies or not. But I agree with allot of you, zombies arn't going anywhere anytime soon... sadly :/
Either Resident Evil 2 or Resident Evil 4. I like RE4 better as a game, but RE2 was where I jumped into the series and became a fan.
