i saw this dvd collection the other day that was 17 command and conquer games all for one lo lo price of 50 bucks.

made me think, what game series has the most sequels?
Counting expansions? I guess the Sims.
If you count spinoffs, Mario has to be up there. If not, I dunno. 17 is pretty impressive.

Yeah, but that was written with usual Wikipedia eye for attention.
If you check the official data that is linked in that article you can see that that is incorrect, they are talking about sales units and that probably counts every separate release (so the same game for multiple systems as well).
I'm reasonably certain the Lost Planet series does not consist of 13 titles.

If you count spinoffs and such as part of a series, Mario is a good contender as is Castlevania. If you only count direct sequels.. Final Fantasy would be my guess.
cod or nfs will probably beat mario

Not a chance
If you count individual platforms, EA's Madden series comes to mind as a strong contender.

In a rough count of all platforms listed here I got 145

look at it this way, the way nintendo is going they will probably collapse in next 2 years, cod on the other hand has money throwing bastards who will buy their game no matter what..
Isn't Final Fantasy up to number 26 Part 82 now? Or something like that...
It's probably Pokemon.

If you count remaking the same 3 games for an endless succession of consoles and handhelds as "separate games in a series", then yes.
Mega Man has what 17 "classic games (plus soccer, the two arcade games), 12 X games, 3 MML games, 8 MMBN, 4 MMZ games, 3 MMSF, and 2 MMZX games. so around 50 games (not counting compilations or alt versions)

Shin Megami Tensei probably has around 30 (not counting ports and alt versions but counting Megami Tensei even though it's not the same developers IIRC)

Tales has about 26 games counting remakes, but not ports or minor additions and probably leaving out some spinoffs.

I think there's at least 20 major Neverland/Magic Century games, not counting ports or some of the vn spinoffs.
