LOL, yeah, it's me, the forum pest. I clicked around the HB website, but just couldn't get a solid answer to my question (I THINK I might have the answer, but I'm not sure) so, once again, I'm asking you experts.

When you buy a humble bundle, you don't get Steam codes, what you get is a page where you link your Steam account to your Humble Bundle account. But I would rather just have the codes, so the first question is:

1) If I "gift' it to myself, that is choose to gift it, then click on redeem myself, will that give me the code that I can right down and use myself??

The second question I am very confused on, it seemed like I might not have the option to buy another bundle from what I was reading (something about if you already have the games, you lose them), but that makes zero sense. Why on earth would any company NOT want you to buy multiple copies. So, here's the second question:

2) I ended up gifting two of the games from my first bundle that I had planned on keeping for myself because I didn't have them, so now I'm thinking of dropping another $10 and getting the whole bundle again (less the Civ V:BNW DLC) because I may have found homes for another copy of a couple of them plus I want to reaquire the games I gifted that I had planned on keeping. Can I do that?? If I do that, will I "lose" the unused games in my current bundle?

1) Nope, same as if you redeemed without gifting. No keys.

2) I'm not sure, but I think you'll have a 2nd (or 3rd..) bundle, even if you claim the page.
1) I believe you're gonna have to link your Steam account, there is no way around that to my knowledge. They used to give out codes - not anymore.

2) No definite answer since I haven't been in that position myself, but it would seem very strange if you "lost" anything.
Thanks guys, I guess I was right on the first question. I thought that's the way it was, but wanted to make sure. Dammit, I like to get keys better. I wonder why they changed it? (I mean the REAL REASON. I read their bullshit explanation of why they changed "To make it easier for you to claim your games")

The second question I'm very confused. I read something about if you already have the games that's just too bad, and I got the feeling you "lost" them. But now I can't find that to read it again, and I can't find anything now on purchasing multiple copies of the same bundle.

I'm gonna give it a go.

Oh, and a note to Stooner, No, Pirates! was not one of the games I was talking about. As I said, I do already own that one. LOL. I just didn't want you thinking that was one of them.

THANKS AGAIN GUYS. +1 all around.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, it worked like Stooner said.

I have two bundles showing up (both of the same name) and in one, most of the games are gone because I gifted them here and to my family and the second has all of the games ready to claim.

THANKS GUYS. Sorry for being such a pain, I just sometimes don't understand and get nervous about spending money when I don't understand exactly what I'm getting/not getting.

I think the reason is to hinder the resell of games, although I don't think they made it THAT hard...

With the current system, they can prevent you from gifting, if they disable that little 'present' icon.
So far they haven't done that, but they can now that the system is in place.

They had the "present" icon disabled prior to people arguing about that. ;p
So, yeah...
