Is it possible to sticky/post stuff to the top of a forum topic. Or have a better forum structure.

For example if you want to list all of the great mods and modding sites to go to for a game are you able to keep that topic stickied or does a moderator have to do that. If it takes a moderator to do that I think each game should have a sticky section for stuff like this. Else it just ends up farther down the forum topics and you end up having to hunt for stuff like this. This has probably been mentioned before.

Well, I'm not exactly certain what you mean, but you can mark it as your favourite topic... so it stays up top in your list.
Creating stickies is something only mods (read: staff) can do. They can sticky an existing thread though.
What I mean is if you make a really great modding topic for a game, such as mods and websites for mods eventually that topic will not be at the top in that respective game forum.Eventually it will be near the bottom due to other people posting new topics. There should be a better way to sticky stuff to the top of a game forum. I think in the long run GOG should just make a section for each game that has a modding/patch/community websites forum.

Sorry if this is not clearer, this has probably been all mentioned at one point before. Oh and thanks for the reply

In reply to Navagon is there a discussion forum where there are proposed changes to the forum structure, as i find GOG's fourms to be quite basic, you pretty much have general discussion and a fourm for each game that should be much more organized.

Please no option for members to create sticky threads. It WILL get out of hand.
Yea I could see that happening/ perhaps more topics for each game forum then? Such as a help section, strictly discussion section, modding section, something like that anyway.

Agreed. Think about it. Say there are 10 000 forum viewers/posters and all of them want one of their posts to be stickied.... the horror!

Edit: even 100 would make the point. or 50.

This could work. I'd encourage you to send this to the gog.com staff.
I just wonder if this has been discussed like a million times before, and if there already is a thread with suggestions on making the forums better. I wish GOG on there relaunch had made the forums abit better.

Yes, it has been discussed a million times before. Check the "Welcome, please read" thread for link to topics that cover website/forum suggestions.

EDIT - I think I just found another forum bug. It appears that the link I posted points right back at this thread, but if I try to edit the post, it already has the correct URL for the "Welcome..." thread. Really odd.

There used to be a suggestions thread that was stickied. But that seems to be long gone now.

Generally, the problem is that the feature you're requesting, while with noble intentions, is going to have the absolute hell abused out of it.

You've really got to think about not only how your idea could be used, but also misused. I don't think you can really expect staff to take it too seriously otherwise.
