Foxhack: ... what does that have to do with MobyGames?
Mobygames was bought by Gamefly, and the new layout provokes much ire. Direct2Drive was bought by Gamefly, and the site is gone. It's a loose association on the verge of getting off topic.

You don't recognize me? I am deeply wounded. ;-)
Oh god, I bet it turns out we all grew up together but have developed amnesia due to prolonged gaming.

Nah, we're probably all just different personality splinters in the same brain.

Foxhack: The only thing we can do right now is bomb the @GameFly Twitter account with messages about how everyone hates the new MobyGames layout. Flood the GameFly and MobyGames Facebook pages. Send emails to GameFly corporate.
I've never dealt with GameFly before but when I've tried to it wants way more personal information ahead of time than is necessary. I get the impression that this is a site that you pay a monthly fee in order to shop at? I see deals there all the time on various game deal websites, but their deals are no better than one of a half dozen other gaming retailers. I'd consider shopping there but I wont pay some monthly subscription free just to do so. I might misunderstand the site though too so I thought i'd ask here since you mentioned them...

Is it possible to buy games from GameFly like you would on Steam/Gamersgate/Greenmangaming/Amazon/etc. _without_ having to pay some monthly fee or subscribe to something? I've been avoiding them since it's a little confusing/unclear. I did give them my email address though and am getting all kinds of "try us free for n days, then subscribe for $xyz" emails which puts me off.
I've not made any purchases from them, so I cannot say for sure, but I don't think you need to subscribe/pay a monthly fee to use Gamefly. My account was transferred over from Direct2Drive, but I've never paid a subscription fee for anything. They -did- want you to use their "Gamefly Client" to download and run their games. Now they want you to use their game downloader instead.

You may be on to something. I'm pretty sure my brain has been scrambled by all the wireless transmissions around me. I didn't have the minimum level required to wear my Tinfoil Helm of Wi-Fi Deflection +2.
