I really don't know what the hell you're going on about here. I pretty much am giving everyone a pass on DRMs due to the fact that they're inevitable. People will want to protect their property. If they want to alienate customers in the process, they can, but again, I'm not going to let something as silly as always-on DRMs in primarily-multiplayer games (be it through co-op, deathmatch, or what-else-have-you) get in the way of me enjoying said game. From what I can tell, Miner Wars is built around a multiplayer focus, which is only natural since they're making an MMO in the same universe using much of the same tech.
Anyone else in here hasn't given it a free pass. :P So again, what exactly are you on about?
EDIT: tl;dr I'm a proponent of just enjoying games.
EDIT: Valve introduced a rule that people who use their service can't sue them. You want to tell me we have rights?
Now seriously, enough with the DRM discussion. It's not SecuROM. It's not TAGES. It's a server. One that manages accounts and doles out multiplayer services.
EDIT: I'd also like to remind you that I still haven't bought the game. I couldn't afford it if I wanted to at this moment in time. I'm just saying that people really need to chill and enjoy games.

rampancy: It doesn't matter how good a game is (or well it sells) if it comes with oppressive DRM. And, honestly, your opinions are ultimately irrelevant if you decide to buy this game in spite of what you state as your opinions. If you buy this game, just like if you bought any other game saddled with always-online requirements or restrictive DRM on launch, you are supporting and endorsing this as a consumer. Put another way, what's more important? Your short-term enjoyment of a game, or your rights as a consumer?
Yeah, see, that's what people don't get. As digital consumers, we basically have no rights. All sales are final unless the company is gracious, they aren't required to provide warranty, etc, etc. Eg. If you're stupid enough to buy a broken game, you're stuck with that broken game. EDIT: Valve introduced a rule that people who use their service can't sue them. You want to tell me we have rights?
rampancy: You can't complain about policies like this while at the same time giving the game a free pass for its always-online requirement.
What do DRMs have to do with nickel and diming people? Now seriously, enough with the DRM discussion. It's not SecuROM. It's not TAGES. It's a server. One that manages accounts and doles out multiplayer services.
