overread: Any system can be hacked just as pretty much any lock can be picked if you spend enough time and have the right tools and skills. Also this published hacking side is nothing more than scarmongering or attention seeking - it benefits no one and just serves to heighten internet fears and possible also result in a massive clampdown on things.
But the point is that they release info on whether they've successfully hacked into the system, allowing you to act in case your details have been leaked.
The "bad" hackers don't release this kind of info, and just use your details immediately.
If I have to choose, I'll gladly choose the first, because I'll know that my details have been discovered, instead of the second, that could possibly make me wonder when exactly I bought a house in southern China last month. :D
