metro 2033 is a game that i got in this amazon budle deal, 6 THQ games for 11.00. i ended up paying 3 becuase of a gift card.

at any rate, i didn't know what to expect becuase i hadn't heard much about the game, in fact i hadn't heard anything about the game.

as it turns out the game is really really fun! the first thing i noticed about it was that the graphics were SUPERB, but of course you have to have a screaming hot machine to see the good stuff, i had to lower the settings a bit to get it runnable, but despite that the graphics are still the best of any game i own on PC.

gameplay is sweet too, you go back and forth from fighting monsters, to fighting humans, and the play style for both is different. your going to want to use different weapons for both.

there are a few techinal difficulties, but nothing game breaking. just a glitch or two that you can just restart the level on and get right past.

anyone else like this game as much as i do?
Played the game - it was fun to playthrough one. Couple weeks back i read the original book - it was pretty good as well. It was nice to notice that they had alot in common, but then some things completely different from each other.

...have to read the second book some time as well.
I've finished it twice, once on normal and then on the ranger hardcore difficulty. First playtrough was fairly good, the second was fucking awesome.
I picked this up a while ago but have yet to really try it in earnest. Any recommendations on a difficulty level to start with? I don't mind a challenge or dying frequently if the harder difficulties add to the experience.

I just got this as well and had heard little or nothing about it. I really love the post-apoc setting (similar to the STALKER games). I'm just a couple of hours into it but I've enjoyed what I've seen so far.
I stopped playing after I had to infiltrate Nazi lines. Sorry did I say infiltrate? I meant "get constantly slaughtered by machine gun fire as there's only one way to the checkpoint, charging their lines"

theres always a way my friend!
I shelved the game when I arrived at Library. I'm not a big fan of shooters and linearity of this one full of pseudo-zombies kinda wore me off. However I recommended it to my colleague, zombie & FPS genre fan, and he really enjoyed it. So at least the series got another fan :).

And I have to say I was stunned how a small Ukrainian studio was able to put together something like that.

Great point!

I was so impressed at the quality of Serious Sam, and more so when I found out what a small group put it together.
