It's not really sad, and yes, Duck Tales was a great cartoon. Just as a little kid I remember feeling self-conscious about not getting into more "macho" cartoons, and scared to death, for instance, someone would find out I occasionally watched "Rainbow Brite" on Saturday morning.

As a teenager I watched Batman: The Animated Series and Gargoyles pretty faithfully. I remember enjoying them a great deal, particularly Gargoyles, which I thought was pretty sophisticated fare for a cartoon. Still think of 'em from time-to-time, despite the fact I dislike almost all comic book or genre lit/movie series now.

I was a child of the '90's (born '91), so I completely missed Transformers. Further, my mother was really against violence, so the only things I remember watching were Pokemon and Digimon. I completely missed that Transformrs series where they were animals (except for seeing a little tiny bit that's stuck with me for years, probably because somebody was holding a skull) and the DCAU. I did, however, get to watch Thundercats on its reruns.

Also, now that I'm older, I bought the complete Dungeons and Dragons series. It's amazing how well it holds up.

I hope I'm not the only one who watched Biker Mice from Mars.

And that's only as far as my own childhood goes, as I grew older I "had to" watch a bunch of shows with my 8 years younger brother and 14 years younger sister as well, "Hey Arnold" seems to be the only one I remember the name of though.

Never saw that D&D one though, I'll have to see if I can find it somewhere.

The 80's were great. Love how much copying there was in cartoons.

Dinosaurs were another common theme in 80's cartoons, not just the Dinobots (like Grimlock), but there were all sorts of Dinosaur cartoons. Dinosaurs in space! (Dinosaucers?) Dinosaurs in the future! Dinosaurs used like horses! (Dinoriders?)

Oh, I can quote the whole intro in spanish. The mexican translators were actually pretty funny and some of the jokes you could tell weren't really translated literally, but ad libbed or improvised or even old quotes from other mexican shows.

Another thing I love about those cartoons is half of them had heavy metal intros!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought of that. I always get the game confused with "Legend of Grimlock", and wondered if there was a brutish Transformer in it speaking broken Tarzan english.

He-Man has aged really poorly though. I tried to watch a few episodes not too long ago, and no nostalgia glasses in the world could save that thing. GI Joe fared a bit better, but still not well. Transformers, well season 1 was entertaining, but then it just went downhill from there (the animated movie is still awesome though), but what really saves Transformers is its awesome comic, which seemed to grow with its audience. The earlier ones were rather childish, and they did not seem to dare to do anything outlandish, but in the later ones, the story lines get a lot more mature and interesting. It is still a comic for children and people in their lower teens, but it is surprisingly well written, and some storylines were quite dark (there is one set in a not so distant future, where the Decepticons have won, and hung Rodimus Prime's corpse between two buildings in a ruined city, that I think stands out. Don't know if that was from the UK or US comic, we got most of both, but they also cut some story lines for no reason here).

GI Joe had an awesome comic too, or at least I thought so at the time. I keep meaning to buy them again and see how it holds up but comic collections are stupid expensive. $20 for something I can read in 20 minutes does not seem like value to me.

Have they not re-released them in any form of collections? Transformers are getting re-released from time to time in large comic albums, and it would surprise me if the other 80's comics that still has some staying power has not been re-released.
