Hello All,

What do you think of Max Payne? This should definatetly be on GOG.com.
This would be an instant buy from me.
I freaking love Max Payne..

already own it on physical media and on steam...

some of the best actions games there is
If GOG can get Rockstar (right?) signed up here, that could happen. :) But with the Max Payne series still alive with 3 coming out, I'm not sure what to think about those chances...
When (not if) they get 2K on board, the two games will definitely show up on here. It's just the fact we have to wait!
It doesn't work on newer versions of Windows I think, or at least the Steam one doesn't.

It was just another day at the GOG forums, I was picking through the posts, hoping to be amused, when I saw it. Another newbie asking for a game. Of all the forums in all the internet, it had to be mine.

I took a puff of my cigarette, and almost choked to death. I remembered I don't even smoke. Then I clicked reply and started typing, the clickety clack of my keyboard the only solace to my ever-growing anger.

"Listen,", I wrote, "I've had just about enough of these punks, demanding that a game be added. The next person who does that will get a punch in the throat that'll leave them singing mute karaoke for the rest of their lives."

I took a sip of my whiskey. The fire in my throat burned like the farts of a dragon at a Mexican restaurant. I don't know where this bottle of whiskey came from, maybe from the same plane the cigarettes descended from. Maybe the Tobacco and Liquor industries are after me.

Maybe this is all a big joke.

It does work on Vista x64 but needs a bit of tweaking to get all of the sounds to play. I have it on retail disc and have played it through completely without issue by using this method.

1) For retail discs, the CD autorun will not work. Manually open explorer onto the CD and run the setup.exe instead. Obviously not applicable for the Steam version.

2) Do not use the Windows default program locations to install as this leads to UAC issues. Instead, install to your own folder, such as C:\Games\MaxPayne\ (I don't know what happens if you install Steam into Program Files, as I again don't recommend doing this with any games).

3) Install the 1.05 patch (again, not applicable for Steam version).

4) Download and install the Max Payne Vista Sound Fix as per this from the Steam Forums:
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=848215

Widescreen Note:
Max Payne natively supports widescreen but stretches the display to fit.
There is no functionality to give Hor+ widescreen (true widescreen).

Mmmmm...... sorry if I annoyed some people with the topic and my question if this will be on GOG.
I played the first one. It was nice game a bit repetitive. I tried the second one, it kinda makes me motionsick after a short time. Or perhaps I had a bad day then.
Third one, what I watched some longer trailer.. It doesn't seem to be so bad what I originally suspected. Who knows, it's not released, it still can be awesomely crappy.
In gog, paynes would be a good addition.
Both would be instabuys for me as well. Played the hell out of the second one. I also love the movie, no matter how bad it may be.

I found it tedious and repetitive.
But would probably give it another go if it came on GOG.
I have the boxed copies. And then have it on Steam. I don't mind getting it on GoG if GoG has it. One of my favourite games ever. Great story, great atmosphere. And then there's the Kungfu mod:

The truth split my skull open, a glaring green light washing the lies away. All of my past was just fragmented topics and replies, words hanging in the air like balloons. I was bitching at another new member because they were excited to be here and didn't read the sticky (which is horribly outdated). My life here had decended into monotony, my only purpose to be an arsehole Funny as Hell, it was the most horrible thing I could think of.
