So if I got that news right, they were first complaining how some gun control legislation will cost jobs in and revenues in gun companies (which is like complaining that actions to curb drugs will cut drug dealers' revenues), and then moved on to blame video games for school shootings?

Sounds like a red herring to me. That professor or whatever sounded quite reasonable, and I agree pretty much what with he said. Ie. sure some control may be needed for media and games, like I don't wish to see the most violent movies or anal pr0n being sold to kids.

And the guns (esp. assault rifles and such) are not the reason for school shootings (the fact that some youngster got crazy was), but they are tools that enable much more victims.

I guess she's finding it hard to believe she lost to video games. That "No" must have done critical damage to her confidence inducing part of the brain. I kinda felt sorry to her in the end. A single tear down my cheek and all that.

...Or was it pity?

I know a small diner near by that sells it lightly deep fried with your choice of fries or chips. GOOD EATING! Of course where I live most people consider eating prawn to eating bait but screw them!

What really pisses me off by now is that they actually use the "poor people working in the gun industry" excuse but would welcome steps that would cost even more jobs in the video game industry. They don't just talk about guns but the people making them to score with the audience through empathy, when talking about games they do everything to avoid providing facts that might make the audience feel sympathetic towards the creators of games.

Nowhere do I see "Fair and balanced" or equivalent plastered on the site and logo. Pravda has an obvious agenda, and doesn't hide it. You could replace the name with "Lenin and Stalin read this and approved" and no one would bat an eye. Fox news, on the other hand, gives the words "fair" and "balanced" perverse connotations.

There's an article in the most recent issue of "Scientific American - MIND" that talks about some of the positive changes in the brain brought about by games - and the most effective seems to be, you guessed, violent first-person shooters.

TV, movies, games, etc. are all media, and they all compete for users. When the TV/Movie industry(which are basically one and the same thing, since they have the same owners) go after video games, they go after their main competitors.

The question is: How is protecting the gun industry beneficial for them? Obviously they do it and whenever a debate is actually about guns they do everything to make it a debate about games because that industry is meaningless to them.

Let's not forget that guns can also cause changes in one's brain ;P.

I can't get over the fact that the video provided discusses selling death implements as if they were festive candy. My sarcasm capabilities drop to zero at the face of absurdity so overt.
And they're trying to figure out whether things which may (let's assume) make people more prone to violence are more of an issue than the things actually USEFUL in perpetuating said violence (with little planning, on more than individual scale, with convenience) ?
