Yes, I know, we don't wanna make ourselves more nerdy, but who plays Magic?
I run B/W aggro, Goblins and Allies from Zendikar
I was way into MTG several years back (like 1994-2002) I was winning tournaments and junk. I had about 50 deck, of which about 12 were really good. Man the money i threw away...Anyway, I moved and sold my cards, Have not played in a while. I really miss it :(
Wow... MTG... I used to play that back in high school back in the mid nineties. I was so close to collecting the entire 4th edition, then I kind of lost interest. It still bugs me that I was unable to complete it, though.
Used to play with friends every now and then, but never got into the tournament scene.
We used to play MTG back then in school. I really enjoyed playing, got the complete 7th edition, but lost interest because all of my friends stopped playing when counter strike was released. still got all my cards though.

Well I guess I'm like you guys. I'm in high school and playing currently
they reently released M10 (effectively 11th Edition) recently, to give you a timescale
I think it's fun; I limit what I spend on it and make the best of what I have

I think Magic is a bti mroe fun because it requires so much skill in temrs of deck building, playing, etc..

I spent a LOT of money on Magic cards... 4th edition wasn't the only edition I sunk money into, but for some reason it was the only one I was compelled to try and complete. (Yeah, that went well, ha!)
As for the old MTG videogame by Microprose, if we are talking about the one where you explore a world map and challenge creatures/wizards/whatever to card duels, there's a patch out there that slows the gamespeed down to work on modern computers...
Umm.. I can't remember what it was called.. May have been Mana Tap?

I don't like card games, but I respect those who do. If I were going to get into one, I'd probably get Eye of Judgement, since I have little to no imagination and prefer a computer to animate my actions.
Boy, i've played so many card games... Netrunner, The Lord of The Rings (the I.C.E. version, not the one with the movie pics), Intervention Divine, Nephilim, Guardians, Dragon'net, Xxxenophile, Cthulhu CCG (i still play this one) and so many more... Man, the money i put in those games... But i don't regret any cent of it, considering the amount of fun i had with friends...
As for MTG, i've played it a little, but always in a "fun game" spirit and only with friends, never in any competition.
I used to, but I gave it up probably some time in high school, I think at about the time the Urza's Saga sets were coming out. At that point I was pretty unhappy with the way the expansions were set up (vaguely story-based trilogies), and I felt like many of the new core concepts were just silly and overly ornate (I found the cards that are split between two different spells to be particularly absurd).
That wasn't what really killed it for me, though. After not really enjoying the game for a while, I suddenly realized that I was just sick of the deck-counterdeck-countercounterdeck metagame. The most fun I ever had with the game was before any of us really put much thought into it, when we were just playing with slightly tweaked starter decks and we thought Craw Wurm was an awesome card. I get a lot more out of the turn-by-turn strategy and combat dynamics than I ever did out of building a deck - plus, by this point the people I was playing with had spent a hell of a lot more money on the game than I had.
I still have my collection, but the handful of times I've played over the past ten years, I just took my collection and built a couple of random decks. Say, if I felt like playing black and my opponent wanted to play red/green, I'd take some swamps, he'd take some mountains and forests, and we'd draw 40 or so cards at random from our respective colors. Those would be our decks, and we'd have to deal with whatever we got, constructing our strategies on the fly. It's the only way I have fun with the game anymore.
I live in a different city now, though, so I don't see myself ever playing the game again. I should probably try to sell off my collection.

I thought the game was fun, I didn't really care for the "collection" aspect of it though. Too often (not always, but often) it came down to who ever was willing to spend more money usually won. Currently the only card game I play is Munchkin. :)
I used to play with friends a lot many years ago. I still have my box full of crap cards and one good but obsolete deck. I also got my rat deck, never won any games with it as it was not built for winning. But it was loads of fun, especially when you landed out pox, right on the theme. :P
