Lexor: Eye of the Beholder had one level less (EoB - 12, LoG - 13) and as far as I can remember it took me much longer than 15 hours to finish the game :D Tip: turn off automap and needed amount of time will greatly increase :D
What does the number of levels have to do with it, unless the levels have the same amount of content?

AFnord: Morrowind can be beaten in 7½min. (Major spoiler video!)
i'm not watching that because even though i've owned Morrowind since launch and i have played it, i have never actually finished it... but that speedrun probably relies on some kind of cheat, doesn't it?

AFnord: And I think the longevity of Grimrock will depend a lot on its map editor, which they have said that they will release. If it is powerful (and user friendly) enough, then this might a game that will last for years.
true, but it also depends on the community and how talented it turns out to be. the problem is more like user-made dungeons looking the same as the official dungeon, with the same tiles and the same monsters.

AFnord: And 15h for $15 is not bad. Not great, mind you, but not bad.
certainly. i'm truly looking forward to it. since i've pre-ordered, it's only $12 for 15h anyway.

Taking into consideration that developers of LoG based on old dungeon crawlers they could implement levels of at least similar size.

Well, more of exploit of game mechanics, which some count as one of Morrowind's charms. I count it as exploiting bad game design, but there you go. :P

Also, since when do we judge whether a game is worth its price based on its length. Come on. Quality matters, quality!

Well, I would not really count the game mechanics as all that poor. The author of that speedrun does some pretty outlandish stuff, things that I don't think any game designer would actually expect.

While quality is the main thing of importance when it comes to games, quantity matters. If I were to spend 60€ on a 5h game, I would feel a bit cheated (sadly 60€ for 5h experiences are becoming the norm in some genres).

Oh, and I also pre-ordered Grimrock, but on the other hand, i tend to be rather good at finishing games faster than average. Still, I have not been so excited over a game release in a long time.

Looking at the community that seem to be growing around Grimrock, there seem to be quite a lot of gaming enthusiasts and people with a fare amount of computer experience, so things do look good for the editor. Hopefully they will allow you to import your own assets.

You bet! I'll be the first run medium difficulty speed daemon of GOG.
Reviewing test versions of games, lol. Do they have time machines too?

Clicking on that link results in "no deeplinking please" ;) (copying it works, though)
Also: "From United States". Um... what?

Strange. So far that link worked fine for me. Not United States in my case. Germany. ;-)
And then I took an arrow in the knee.

You can change that in the My Account - Settings page, if you want.

It's not something you'd even notice unless you use the forums a lot. I don't think it appears anywhere else.
