Hello,
I have question about Laptop screen resolution and games behaving on it, IF SOMEONE KNOWS, HAVE EXPIRIENCE WITH IT, or jus WANA HELP SOLVE THIS :)
want to play old games like Commandos, Cesar 3, warcraft 2... ( low resolution )
1) So how will it behave on screen 15.4 inch with native resolution 1680x1050 ( 16: 10 )
- will it be normal because screen size 15.4 inch?
- will its native resolution ( 1680..) affect on game - picture - screen ( will it overrach )?
2) What will it be playing on screen 15.6 inch resolution 1366x768,
- will it be disortion, overrach, anomaly ?
- or can it be normal screen picture as it would be on normal old screen ?
3) If some know whats with 16 inch screen ?
Thank you foward, Best Wishes :)

This question / problem has been solved by Miaghstirimage
1. You may find that you're not able to choose the highest resolution in older games as it would be 1600 x 1200, which would mean that the top and/or bottom is cut off. But lower resolutions like 1280 x 1024 are usually fine. I've had no problem with older games and I use a monitor with the same resolution & aspect ratio.
2. Depends on the game. I haven't seen any distortion at all. But, in most cases, you'll be using a 4:3 resolution on a 16:9 screen. So things might appear a little wider than they should.
3. Not quite following you here...
widescreen gamers oughtta do it for ya, http://www.widescreengamer.com/
3) Physical size of the screen doesn't matter, resolution does. (Except that a larger screen with the same resolution gets slightly larger pixels, perhaps making stuff slightly easier to see, as everything's bigger, not more detailed.)
Older games, especially 2D games, are usually not made for widescreen resolutions (and often only low resolutions - 800x600 or 640x480), so you'll be playing them in whatever resolution them support, wether the screen will stretch 4:3-resolutions or not depends on the drivers and hardware.
Well i have played on laptop 15.4 ( widescreen 16:10 ) inch with its max - native resolution 1280x .. or it was 1024x and old games worked very fine on it without some anomaly or streching so that will affect,
But i am interested what will happen on same screen size screen 15.4 inch which have max or its nativ resolution 1680x1050, because the size of screen is same jus its max resolution is higher will it affect.
Anyone had any expirience with it.
There may be variations in how the hardware and drivers handles 4:3 resolutions, there are several cases: they stretch to the full size of the screen (making a round ball become oval instead, as everything is wider than it should be), they stretch to the full height (adding black bars on the sides), they don't stretch at all (giving a huge black border if the game runs on low resolutions), or they stretch to a multiplication of the game's resolution (ie, 640x480 might be doubled to 1280x960, giving a small black border around the active area - this is the best option in my opinion, as it gives the highest possible active area, while at the same time keeping the highest accuracy in the game's graphics).
Which of those that are available to your machine can only be determined while trying out various settings in-game, in the driver's settings, and/or perhaps in BIOS.
I had a Thinkpad T21 with 1400x1050 (14.4 inch, I think), where if I tried to run anything at say 1024x768 or 1280x960, some of the lines were doubled while most were not (both in height and width), so I had to edit the driver's settings to not stretch the image.
Trouble is, it seems graphics isn't an important point in selling a portable computer, so the specs usually don't amount to more than something like "up to 2048MB graphics memory" (that the graphics memory is taken from the total installed RAM isn't mentioned), which say just about as much as "the computer is blue, and glows in the dark".

It MAY affect the game, but probably doesn't. Physical size doesn't matter to the computer (but may matter to the user), resolution does matter to the computer, and if trying to display a non-native resolution the computer usually tries to compensate in various ways.
If it worked on the other computer, it probably works on this one, seeing how both have resolutions that are "weird" for most older games.
If I'm unclear, it's because I have no way of knowing exactly without actually comparing them side by side.
