xa_chan: Depends on what you call "modern games". If you're talking about Call of Duty or Assassin's Creed kind of games, I can't say since I'm not interested in those games. But The Witcher 2 is running fine (all options to the max), as well as Skyrim, for example.
Skyrim drops a lot of frames in cities for me and I have been told by smart people that is my CPU's fault. I'm on ultra settings though, because everywhere other than a city it plays fine.
Borderlands screwed with my PC something fierce because the shadows were all on the CPU. With shadows off it ran at a solid 60fps but with them on it tanked to 20 at times.
GTA4 obviously was processor hungry.
In any case the difference might be that I am running things on max settings all the time because my PC can handle it 95% of the time, but then my CPU will bottleneck me at random times and piss me right the fuck off! Haha.
