AFnord: Hardly the worst port ever. It is still far superior to the Final Fantasy 7 & 8 ports that Squenix/Eidos did.

There is a PC market in Japan, but it does seem to be very different from the one that we know & love. They have the whole Doujin scene (the best known games are probably the Touhou series)

Bullet Hell is *so* not my cup of tea. Much respect to people who can play them, but also possibly much ritalin...

Smannesman: Well Konami really has very little to offer, so GOG should probably not waste a lot of time on persuading them to join. So I'm going to downvote this.. oh wait that's not possible, well than I just won't vote for it.
or you could click the link I posted in the wishlist, granted that quite a few of them are licensed IP's that couldn't be re-released due to expired contracts, but that is hardly "nothing" and quite a bit more than most of the other publishers GOG has got signed could offer.

most importantly, almost all of them are Good Old Games.

Yeah I saw that list a long long long looooooooong time before you replied and I stand by my reply. There are only a few games that are interesting and released in English.
Instead of just copy pasting an entire list you really should've checked that.
So again, they shouldn't waste too much time on courting Konami.
There are still probably about a hundred games and a dozen expansions from publishers they have already signed that they haven't released yet and that's not even counting the indies.
GOG is a pretty small company and they shouldn't spread themselves too thin.

KoolZoid: Bullet Hell is *so* not my cup of tea. Much respect to people who can play them, but also possibly much ritalin...
technically contra is a Bullet hell type game, the whole side scrolling acrade shooter has all but died out and all that is left is the ultra hardcore players making sadistically abusive Indie titles for themselves.

but that right there leads into -why- GOG really should hunt down more Japanese devlopers; PC gaming in Japan isn't dead, far from it in fact, it's just that 90% of it exclusively independently produced Garage built game development. yeah, lots of the title released are not all that good, with a vast majority being erotic visual novels, but that still doesn't mean that there is nothing worth getting released on GOG.

most everything has got a fan translation anyway, and if a bunch of nerds can do it in their spare time I highly doubt that it would be too much trouble to hire on three translators ... hell, I honestly wouldn't even mind if GOG simply released the untranslated versions and linked to the fan translation sites.
I'm quite bitter with Konami for various reasons. Chief among them, their killing off of In The Groove after acquiring the rights to it from Roxor Games, and more recently, their abuse of the Forbidden/Limited list in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG to push their products instead of regulate the metagame in a meaningful way.

So yeah, even if Konami comes to GOG, I will not buy their products.

Sogi-Ya: 2006
The Regiment
YES. A PC only quasi tactical shooter from Konami that got abandoned and is not available anywhere now. I don't think konami is worth it for gog, and I don't like them anyway, but I'd get The Regiment if it was available.
I don't see anything in that list I give a shit about other than Silent Hill.
I would love to see Genso Suikoden released
I'm surprised Konami has so many PC games, but few ever saw a Western release, if I'm not mistaken. I would like to one day be able to play Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (legally) on my PC, not to mention Vandal Hearts or Suikoden II. I tried looking for contact information on Konami's website, but I don't see any. I've had some success lately with 3 companies getting back to me about having their games come to GOG, 2 of which said they were working on it.

Crosmando: Also, Policenauts never got an English translation, correct?
It has an unofficial translation, which is pretty good stuff in my opinion. As a fan of Snatcher, Phoenix Wright, and visual novels in general, I give it a thumbs up. By the way, Policenauts was made by Hideo Kojima of Metal Gear Solid fame, and his writing works a lot better here because the genre is actually suited for that sort of thing.

As for me, I would love to see Konami's catalogue coming to GOG. Castlevania in particular, but having them actually porting an official version of Snatcher and Policenauts would be nice. Knowing how the Japanese are, that doesn't seem likely...but a gamer can dream, right?

Well, to continue my dream: Phoenix Wright of Capcom would be an awesome game to have on the PC. Come'on, it is point-n-click, has mysteries, funny dialogue, what is there not to love?
Yes, absolutly yes :) Well, ok, to be honest - I really care (from Konami titles) about TMNT games. There is not too many of them, but some are still quite enjoyable (I've ended about two or three months ago Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from 2003 - even with stupid save-game mechanism, it is still playable title). Pity, that Konami hasn't done something like Sega - releasing many of their elder titles (even those, which weren't available on PC) into new "form", normally sold on Steam, dotemu.com etc. In conclusion - it wouldn't hurt, I'm totally for this idea (even if I realise, that Konami could be not too "comfortable" partner to negotiate)
I can't say I find that list super exciting, but I certainly wouldn't mind seeing the Silent Hill games come here. Shadow of Destiny has a soft spot in my heart, being one of the first PS2 games I ever played, but I'm not sure how it would hold up as anything other then a nostalgia artifact.
