Lexor: Message to 1C sent. For the time being I'm wondering if there is some manual method to extract contents of 1C patch...

Does anyone recognize this installer icon and tell me what's that?
no idea what was used to make the patch but looks like it uses lzma for compression
it also includes 37MB video file in it

wow. thank you so much for analysis!

Do I see correctly that patch file contains 4 files?
- /kb.exe
- /data/game.ini
- /data/app.ini
- /data/video/kbtl-intro-800x600-eng.ogm

I have no way of extracting the files myself so I have to rely on what the installer extracts. I'm not sure if there are more files because the installer throws the error message at that point.
But at the moment it seems like those are the only files
Better analysis of it could be done with a debugger like OllyDbg. Sadly Olly doesn't seem to cooperate with wine currently (text is unreadable) so I can't do anything more to it.
So does anyone really know if the version on GOG right now is not the version they will put up next week? My download speed is extremely slow it will take one full day to download Kings Bounty and I have no interest in spending two days downloading it if it is going to be different in a few days. Thanks for any reply. :)
On a side note I wanted to thank you Lexor for your continued dilligence in getting this great game more bug free. :D

I think no one from users of GOG has an idea. I would wait till next week.

Good advice. I had come to that same conclusion myself as I was twiddling my thumbs here. :-D Though you understand the jonesing to play Kings Bounty is very strong and hard to resist! ;)

I think you did not understand question.
Yes, KB installer was updated yesterday with GOG's (Firek's) patch, but the question is: is 1C's patch something different than GOG's patch which was implemented yesterday. 1C promised me to send their updated version to GOG during next week.

Can you tell me what is the size (in bytes) of kb.exe which is inside this kb_patch_2.exe?

Sorry for being a little fuzzy, my brain never works right during my mornings. :) Yeah Lexor got it right. I know GOG did something to the game, but I read what Lexor has said and thought is GOG going to post what 1C gives them? Or maybe they will say: No Firek's version is just as good and there is no reason to switch. I just wonder why GOG didn't let us know what they were planning on doing (I'm guessing maybe they don't know themselves? Because they aren't sure what 1C is up to.). I was hoping maybe some dude in blue was lurking, but, no luck for the weekend. Oh well, Master Yoda has taught me well, I will wait and see. Thanks for the replies Lexor and Sude, I appreciate it. =)

oops, I forgot it was already updated once yesterday
also the gogwiki information is out of date
so better wait until next week before downloading

Ah, so now it is clear I suppose.
GOG's kb.exe before patch: 13040128 bytes
GOG's kb.exe in Firek's patch: 2256384 bytes (only!?)

So 1C patch is something different and it is closer in size to non-patched GOG's original version.

Also: GOG's patch included two files (loc_data.kfs and loc_ses.kfs) - I can't see such files in 1C's patch.

By binary looking at kb.exe in Firek's patch it seems that it could be also packed - that's why it could be so small.
Can someone with KB:TL version 1.7(build 35234) not from GOG save these two attachments on hdd, rename it to kbsave.part1.rar and kbsave.part2.rar, unpack and try to load this game save?

Well today, I'm going to breakdown and download it, I have no other need to use the internet this day, and I'm not going to keep waiting an indefinte period to find out what the plan is (if there is one). So, Kings Bounty here I come...ever so slowly. :) Thanks again Lexor for your persistence in getting this game more bug free, and Firek for helping to make it so. =D

EDIT: Kings Bounty GOG Downloader Bugged?
Well it seems to not work via the downloader I get the following error (look at posted pic) So I will download with my browser. However that too has sometimes been failing me, probably dropped internet conncection on my end in that case though. Maybe I will have to continue to wait. ;-P

EDIT 2: Update, the KOCollins Kings Bounty saga has reached its (most likely) final chapter with a successful download via browser and a beautiful install, followed by glorious gameplay. Thanks GOG another gem you hath mined up for us here. =D
