I'm only 18, but I would say that in some ways, get them to play something along the lines of the first 3 rainbow sixes and the expansions (r6, rouge spear, raven shield) or get them to play the command and conquers up to tiberium sun firestorm (after that it went to crap). Another good option would be to just get them to play something like OFP or Falcon 4.0 (mod it with Red Viper or Openfalcon first though). Also, try to go for Morrowind. Furthemore, go for Enemy Engaged Comanche Holkum and Enemy Engaged Apache Havok and be sure to update with the latest mods. Finally FF VII would be a good idea.

games i'd want them to play:
1. chris crawford's "guns or butter". the amount of time i spent as a child playing that game, with all of its (wonderful and horrible) implications was great fun for me. the "life lessons" imparted while playing it were (in hindsight) profound as f***.
2. planescape: torment. simply for the ease with which it integrated beautiful, lyrical prose, philosophical concepts and insane amounts of ass kicking. its the only game i've ever searched for a "script" for online.
3. TES ii: daggerfall. to understand that aiming for the moon and failing miserably still accomplishes some fascinating stuff.
games i'd use as punishment:
1. TES ii: daggerfall - unpatched. hehehe.
2. bloodnet. i hated this game so much.
3. any random licensed game i happened to have handy.
4. UMS II - nations at war: i dont remember why, but i strongly remember hating this game more than just about anything else i was playing at the time.

I would force them to play anything with the Putt-Putt theme in them all over again..................somehow cutting the grass just doesn't do it for me anymore, and Pajama Sam and the Freddi Fish series...................Oh God! How I had to watch my 3 kids play those games over and over before sending them off to bed in the "good old days" we only had the one computer instead of the 11 I have now.......................Putt-Putt for President...............LOL

Ya know if you are looking to relive those days i think Gametap have a full catalog from those franchises :)
But fallout might be the better choice

This particular friend writes off all classic games as "lame." I was just using Final Fantasy VI as an example. Hopefully, not all young gamers are like that.

I'm going to beat my children until i take them to a new game store and they say 'lol dad, there aren't any cool games, lets go to the used game store.'
