The Enchanted Cave is a somewhat grindy Rogue-lite casual, free on Kongregate, and available for Android and iPhone. The mobile versions are temporarily free to promote the Kickstarter.

Anyway, the guy needs six months and $10,000 to make a sequel for Android and Flash - and at the $15,000 mark, Steam. He has no stated plans for a DRM-free version of the stretch-goal Steam release, but maybe we can talk him into it if we send money? He is also offering all of his games for life for $50 backers. (In theory, he could get hired by a studio at some time in the future, which would sort of lower the value of the deal, but it's a nice thought that might pan out)

Edit: Music by Grant Kirkhope. https://twitter.com/grantkirkhope/status/445686482938761216

Edit: I blogged a summary. Kickstarter still could use some bumps. http://mtaur.blogspot.com/2014/03/the-enchanted-cave-2-next-kongregate-to.html

I always find it interesting to see Kickstarters for sequels of games I've never heard of.
As much as I really don't need another roguelike, it is cool they signed Kirkhope.
That's a cool dude.
Just had a little look at the currently free Android version and my first impression is... This isn't a rogue-like, it's a tower-of-the-sorcerer-like! It's expanded sure, but it's definitely derived from TotS rather than Rogue.

I'm not familiar with TotS. And I called it Rogue-Lite. It's pretty lite at that. It would be nice to see harder difficulties in the sequel and more bounded scaling, for sure.

EDIT: There's also a talk of a class system, but he also states up front that he's trying to keep a certain simplicity that defined the feel of the original. I've never heard of TotS-like before, so I just went with the closest thing in my vocabulary.

It wasn't meant as a criticism of you, I was actually pretty pleased to discover a game similar to Tower of the Sorcerer that I can play on my phone.

TotS was a Japanese freeware game.
The way the enemies don't move and just wait for you to attack them, that's directly from Tower of the Sorcerer. It was a sort of puzzle dungeon crawler where you chose which order to defeat enemies and unlock doors. Although it contained RPG elements, the outcome of any given battle was completely predictable based on the enemy's stats and your stats and equipment. The floor layout, including enemies and items, was carefully designed and beating the game required you to choose a good order to do everything in.

This game appears to be a blend of Tower of the Sorcerer and some elements of roguelikes.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

EDIT: Kind of weird that in the rewards it seems to be "Steam key or nothing" even though he doesn't know if he'll get on Steam. I've asked for clarification and will post if I get a reply.

He uses the phrasing "or equivalent" in other places, so I imagine that would apply in other cases if the Greenlight doesn't go through.
Looks interesting

Yeah, a lot of potential here. The phone version of the first game is worth the usual cost for that sort of thing, and the phone version is free during the Kickstarter.
