I feel really satisfied. This is the first game I ever decided to go through on the hardest available difficulty. It started out insanely difficult, and I often had to restart earlier missions. However, by the final boss I had gotten so fluid with the controls that I just streamed from combo to dodge-counter and back. I'm amazed at how far I've come in skill just within a single playthrough. Now for the unlocked Very Hard Mode.

As for the game itself, I loved it. The action was very stylish, and it got extremely fast-paced once you removed the limiters from your katana. There's only one attack (the spin attack) that was badly designed, but the upgrade for it made it worthwhile since it knocked down opponents within a 5-6 ft radius

The characters are cliched on purpose, but they're still done well. The only character who gets genuinely annoying is Mika. Bryan is a blast, despite only speaking about 2 sentences per cutscene.

The story is patchwork, with Mondo's story only really taking place in the early and late missions. Also, it's beyond cheesy, as can be expected from any Suda51 game, but in this case I think it really helps the game shine.

The music is absolutely fantastic, though with Akira Yamoaka being the sound director that's no surprise.

All in all, super fun, great entry into the stylish action genre. You'll orgasm every time you perform a dodge-counter, and you'll laugh your ass off at all of the cheesy moments. Only word of advice: the side missions are dull as a baseball bat.
Cool. http://www.gog.com/forum/general/games_finished_in_2013
I don't know much about it, but the game looks very interesting, in that crazy, Japanese, Suda51 kind of way. Good to hear you found it enjoyable. Might have to dust off my PS3 for this, but I'll wait until some time later this year. More interested in PC games ( GOG ) for the time being.

Did you play on Hard right on your first playthrough?

Yeah. I figured I'd give it a shot.
Love JRPG's, currently playing Ni No Kuni, but as regards Suda games, I just dont "get" them, glad you had such a great experience though :)
