So, I don't know if there are any other prog nerds on this forum, but if there are they ought to be interested in this (and probably already know). Tull is releasing a sequel to their classic epic Thick As A Brick called Whatever Happened To Gerald Bostock. The whole thing is streaming on their FB page for just today and, shockingly, it sounds very good, maybe their best since the 70s. Thoughts?
Love TAAB1. Gonna wait to hear TAAB2, but I'm excited to hear that praise.
I love Tull. Hadn't heard about this, so had to do some quick googling. I can say I'm now officially psyched. April 3rd release on CD. W00t!
I remember the album before better, Aqualung, but probably because there was a guy just like him roaming around in one of the suburbs of where I lived at the time.

Used to make my rounds through various neighborhoods, and came across this guy near a donut shop where a girl I knew worked. He came in, smelled to high heaven, and I told her to give him some of the day olds. He'd hang around, ever after, during the warmer months and had all kinds of goofy stories to tell.

This tale is getting long, but what struck me as he wasn't a stingy guy, as he always mooched smokes, but on a good day would offer you one of his. Never accepted one, as he used to pick up big butts from the street, or office building ashtrays, and fill his pack with them!

^That's an interesting story. Homeless people generally get pegged as being all creepy people with mental illnesses but, as that story attests, that's not at all true.

I've actually always preferred Aqualung to TAAB as well, I always thought TAAB was a little overrated. Still, I'm pleasantly surprised by the new album as it seems Ian remembered how to write songs again (and his voice sounds better too). And it's their first album since 2003 or something too.

Well this is exciting. Thanks for sharing the good news.

I'm a Tull fan too and was just listening to my old favorite album, "Benefit" the other day. :-)

Well, this guy might have been a little off, but certainly harmless to anyone upwind of him

What is strange is that the local kids kind of accepted him as sort of a cult figure. They'd sometimes laugh, or make a joke or two at his expense, but never threaten him or anything like the kids in some neighborhoods would have done. All in all, he was well received, and I kind of found it refreshing that a guy with a clearly troubled life (someone, somewhere, attempted to cut his tongue out and he was hard to understand) found a bit of solace somewhere.

Am looking forward to checking out the new album, just because I kind of forgot about the band.
'Like' Jethro Tull's Facebook page to unlock this album stream.
Aww, fuck me, as if having an account there wasn't enough.
Anyhow, great news, i'll wait until April, though.;)

Yeah, I don't play that Facebook game either :-)
Never heard of Tull.

Was interested until I found out you need a FB account to listen to the stream.
Thanks for the heads up Gazoinks.
Good to hear that it sounds good, I had sort of lost interest in anything new from Jethro Tull after I heard about a terrible live performance from a friend.

Never heard of Jethro Tull? OMG! I'm sure you can listen to some free doing a You Tube search for Jethro Tull. Check out Aqualung, Living in the Past, Benefit, Minstrel in the Gallery and whatever else you come upon surfing. Those four albums are particularly good. Oh, and of course you may also want to do a search on "Thick as a Brick."

Boy do I feel old now... never heard of Tull... :-(

Plus Heavy Horses. That album doesn't get enough love imo. :)
