Andanzas: How do you guys like this game? How is the online community? I might get it for my birthday (in February).I hope to have some free time then.
Its a really fun game. Here's my review.
The first part of the storyline is great, but they dropped the ball on the personal storyline once you meet Traehern midway through the game. It seems to become his story instead of yours. Although, I find some of the hate towards him a bit unjustified, but if your not playing Sylvari its jarring. Basically GW2 has the same problem as Mass Effect 3, near the end the story lines start becoming way too similar. In a way, I think Treahern becomes a bit of a scapegoat for this. I'm going to leave this at that since I don't want to spoil too much, but just be aware that you shouldn't believe the hype.
Also, home instances there is no point in checking out. I was hoping they would become like the HOM in guild wars one, but as they are right now they are pointless.
All the professions are reasonably soloable, but it is easier and funner when you are playing with someone else. I really like the necromancer profession and the Asura are a riot.
The lack of a healer in this game does seem to work, but it would be nice to have a few more support/healing skills on the bar but it is not too big of a deal. The trick is to be very careful about getting mobbed, but some places get a little overboard with the mobs like Orr later in the game.
There is plenty of room for exploration, and you get XP for exploration. Grinding is not an efficient way to get XP, the best way to get XP is to do anything else; dynamic events, explore, craft, pvp, etc. I like this aspect because one of my biggest pet peeves in this game is having to grind.
I'm not wild about the underwater levels, but IMO its reasonably painless. It is best to do underwater levels with a mouse instead of a touchpad.
