(I know another thread this fast but the Baldur's Gate thing was a quick question, this one is a discussion)

Yes we all know about Windows 8 and Valve's stance on it, but this is about open-source and its place in the future. Will we still file share, create programs, make mods for games, hell games at all(people who make games are using Windows computers to make games we have today) in the future to come since Closed platform things like smartphones and tablets OSes seems to be overshadowing it?
Yes.
Yes.

Woot? What does tablets and smartphones have to do with no Open Source?
OSS is a software that has its source code available, doesn't matter what platform it targets. I think there should be some OSS for android, and I wouldn't find it impossible to find a few OSS for iphones/ipads as well, though less likely.
Also, don't forget that OSS is a very good place to look for talented programmers, since they can overcome the Catch 22 that way (job/experience, you get experience in OSS, or at least you can show off your previous coding work).

Pre-Post Edit:
Also, Yes
Yes as in it will die or yes it will stay alive?

Yes.
I'm gonna go with yes.

(seriously, does this warrant a discussion? Look at how much OSS is used in enterprises and by end-users. There is your answer.)

As a question I think it's a bit redundant. OS doesn't dicdate what kind of software is written for it. OSS has been around for quire a while now and produced some pretty good apps to boot, which many people are using to learn in example coding more indepth or use them to do actual work.

I actually do believe, that OSS will come even more popular in the future, as some aplications have already passed the line in where they are just as useful and easy to use as their commercial counter parts. In example I haven't used commercial office tools in years and I've started to recommend LibreOffice for other people as well, as it can do everything you need office tools in daily life.
