I just watched this movie, but there are too many thing similar to Mass Effect.
Excluding some "space" views, the terraforming thing is pretty much the same of a Ripper.
Also the armor of Zod's soldier looks like Mass Effect ones.

Well, even the other Superman movie is full of Bible's references (the last one before the reboot), like the "resurrection" near the end.
I was joking about the Halo reference, but the Superman myth is full of those things.
For example when he lands on Earth, it could be a second born.
