I have seen Darkstar One on steam and would really like to buy it. But system recommendations ment XP 32-bit, well, my computer runs Vista on 64-bit. Might this be a problem or can I buy the game without risk? I have it still on CD/DVD but am not able to finish the installation. It always interferes at the end of installation somehow telling about something like CRM reading and then stops the installation procedure.

As I am short on money, I dont want to spoil my paysafecard with a game, that perhaps doesn't work under Vista/XP 64-bit systems.

All other steamgames however are working perfectly and I guess, there might be a chance, that this may work as well as all my other steamgames. But I d'like to be sure, if 64-bit might be a real problem?

I see you also posted in the Darkstar One forum, but it seems that you didn't actually read that forum? There are plenty of posts describing what you're asking. This one, for instance.

Okay, I read that one, but sorry, I don't quite understand, what they want to say there. I am not so great in managing ingame-code. But tx for the try. My question is only, is it safe to play this game on Vista 64-bit also the system requirements tell it's for xp-32? Generally XP and Vista do not have problems whith each other, at least not for xp on vista. But is it technically possible, that 32-bit is not working on 64-bit for compatibility problems or do I worry too much about this?

You shouldn't have a problem with it. But hopefully someone can answer the question from actual experience with this game. Your concern is valid, if you don't get a response go back to the game forum and post the question there. That way people with experience playing the game should be able to tell you.
I run it and my PC is one step up from a Speak&Spell. Of course, I got mine off Amazon with the disc and at the risk of sounding stupid, I don't know what kind of weird shit Steam puts on their downloads.

EDIT: I didn't see the tail end of the OP post. Disregard my original.

Okay then, I'm gonna take the risk and buy DSO from steam. I'll give you report, if the difference between my system and the listed system-requirements noted by Steam is playing a role or not. Please wish me luck (as we say in German).

Hi fellas: okay, I did finally buy the game on steam for about CHF 10.00 and all went well. The game is working and I already completed two of the three training-missions successfully this time. I was in earlier years much to nervous steering with a mouse because not having any Joystick. But hope, to soon find some decent joystick, if possible even for use in MSX - because I really like to fly virtual aeroplanes/aircrafts.
