Shalgroth: Wow.. There's some very broad brushwork going on here.

: So what? You made a broad blanket statement obviously not knowing that there's a difference between devil worship and the Church of Satan (it is an unfortunate choice of names, but given LaVey's intent on rubbing it in, I guess it's to be expected).

Yeah, their PR-department kinda screwed up there. No offense.
All these reports amuse me because as we become more media integrated we become less violent. Last year was the most non-violent year in US history while at the same time obviously we are more media focused than ever.
So... that is pretty conclusive if you ask me.
I bet gaming does cause aggression in some, just as football, job stress, driving and whatever else might... it's what you do with that aggression and how serious or lasting it is that matters, and no matter what these studies say it's moot.

cogadh: "Devil worshipers" are no more nuts than any other person who believes in an imaginary all-powerful being, so I fail to see your point.

Very true, hence I am aesthetic/agnostic. No point really just saying when someone is nuts they're nuts, religion doesn't matter in that sense.
Also I really don't mind religions, I'm a sort of neutral party. As long as someone doesn't force one onto me I'm cool.

@Shalgroth
Rational Egoism is the problem with Satanism. I'm not offended in the slightest by its appropriation of occult symbols or distatste for other religions. I have the same problems with it I have with Rand's cult.
"Do what thou wilt shall be the entirety of law" is not a very positive life outlook and will lead to a lot of loneliness in life. The type of people attracted to this are either 1) normal teens in a rebellious phase 2) daft. Most of these people are harmless but wacked out. Having a life outlook like this doesn't help matters any.
It's more or less claiming anti-social personality disorder as a religion. Please tell me you see the problem there. Saying I should "respect" this because all religions are "equal" makes as much sense as saying I should respect the Heaven's Gate Cult, Westboro Baptist Church or Christian Identity sects. I think not. Some beliefs make a lot less sense, are flatly out of touch with reality, and contribute to a lot more evil than others. In the scheme of things Satanism is a left-hand path, not the worst one by far, but it's still a bit daft and a lot selfish.
There may be decent people that are Satanists, I haven't met any. However being a decent person means they aren't very good Satanists as they're not following the principal precepts of egoism.
Today in our morning show they have invited a psychologist to talk about violence between young people. The moderator asked the psychologist whether violent video games affect one's behaviour.
The response was that games can only affect people who are not properly raised and prepared by parents.
I am pleased that not every psychologist in TV has the "ZOMFG GAMEZ R TEH EVIL" attitude, but there are some who actually have a clue.
I'd like to mess with the guts of the authors of this so called "study", indeed....
