TDP: HELL NO! How do I downvote this "requested site feature" - maybe this should be the requested site feature: let us downvote requested site features. Then your cloud services terrible idea would probably have negative votes.

Games are a PRODUCT. Stop trying to turn it into a "service".

"Cloud services" are what gets used to justify account-based DRM... just like cloud-based achievements or other useless crap that's used to covertly justify online DRM.
The forums are the perfect place for people to express their opinion and share experiences. Requested site features are just that, requests from the community.

If the community doesn't want something, it will not be delivered, so don't worry about that. And the cloud would be something completely optional for the user.

Anyway, personally the most important feature for me it would be the posibility of take notes in the game sheets, like .ini configuration, links to my favorite mods...

Shambhala: Seems like a really useful addition to me.
It would be better if it was automated though.

darkplanetar: that's steam for you
Not really.
Steam is a composite service, which offers many things.
Some of them, as cloud saving of in-game progress or auto patching of games, are really useful; others aren't and to me the pros are beaten by the cons so I end up not using it.
That doesn't mean that everything they offer is bad.

Simply use NOTEPAD and open a simple text file! That's all that takes. I do that for many games (example image attached).

Let's see, burdensome, resource-hungry cloud 'solution' just to take notes? Or a simple text file? Hmmm.....

The simple solutions are often the best solutions.

Yeah, what you did there but inside the game sheet, for better convenience. I suppose there is not just a bad or a good solution, just our own tastes!

Cool!
I don't really feel the need for this... it would require tighter integration between custom software and your account, which is not the favorite approach here on GOG.

Besides, there are already many general purpose tools that do the job, and can be easily configured with both native, more recent, games and the old DOSBox emulated ones... my favourite: GameSaveManager; it's free, works extremely well, and support many common cloud services

Part of the reason behind my loyalty to GOG is the fact it exists in a net-free vacuum that doesn't require any interaction with the site after I download my installer.

And these days, most games give you option of keeping savegames on your hard disk after uninstalling. The ones that don't (older ones) you can hunt around in the file folders to save them manually. It's not that time-consuming, really.

I'd prefer GOG to focus on resources elsewhere. Like a forum overhaul and tweaking compatibility settings with older Windows-based games.
I can see some users having some use from this thing, but I'm not really one of those people. I haven't had any sort of instance where Steam's Cloud save feature (or any other thing that has it) was a lifesaver (but I generally play games from start to finish, but when I get back to them after some time I just start over). So...it's a no for me.
