This is probably going to be one of those forehead-slapping "Why the hell didn't I think of this myself?" moments, but I would like some advice on ways to expedite the driver installation experience. I have to reinstall drivers on a Thinkpad laptop after a HDD swap. There are no driver software CDs available, so I am left to download them myself from the website. I almost always do it this way (as you get the most up-to-date drivers), but I find it to be a right pain in the ass sometimes because companies often throw all drivers in for all their damn hardware variations (even after entering specific model numbers), and leave the hunting to you. Lenovo uses a proprietary software suite called ThinkVantage that includes a smart updater that will scan your system and download appropriate (and updated) drivers on the fly, so I think I will try that first when the hard drive comes in. In the meantime, though, I would love to hear any advice on how to get drivers done quicker and easier.
