Does anyone know if Insanity's Blade is DRM free on Steam and if so, can it be run directly from the folder thus never requiring the Steam client once installed?

BTW, I really want this game on GOG. Would double dip w/o hesitation.

I seriously doubt it, since even the oldest games i own in Steam need the client running in order to start. The only games that does not have DRM attached are the Valve ones that does not need internet connection, like Half Life, Portal, and so on.
There are many game available on steam that do not require the client to be running to play them (the folder can be copied out to another drive and it will still work. Please see the GOG thread about it HERE

EDIT: also, more information can be found on the Steam Wiki HERE

Also, Insanity's Blade is available DRM free on Desura HERE. Please note, the version on Desura may not be as new as the version on Steam (someone was asking about this in the Desura comments)

Insanity's Blade is an indie game that is not online and has been said to be DRM free by the developer. That is why I was asking is if it could be run as without the Steam client.

If that's the case, would Insanity's Blade be one of the games that don't require the client? Please note it just got released so it might not be on that list/wikia.

I'll let you know in 15-20 minutes when it's installed :)

Cool. I moved the game folder to a different location and then ran it and it worked fine but wasn't sure if that was enough so I look forward to how it worked out for you.

Have you tried contacting the devs about a GOG release?
The game works without Steam for me too

I guess we all learn something everyday, since i didn't know about that D: !!

In fact, i tryed once to play some of my Steam games offline and all did ask for the client. After checked the wikia shane-o linked, it turns out that some workarounds have to be done into the game folder (erase steam_api.dll, run .exe via command prompt, etc) in order to make it run without the client. It will be handy to create a WindowsBatch file that auto arrange this modifications whenever we want to play offline.

Still, GOG products does not need any of those workarounds! Point for GOG :D

Thanks for the info and good luck with your game!
