According to what you are saying in your opening post, go for La Mulana and wait until Inquisitor in on sale to try it out.

Inquisitor doesn't deserve half the rage I read here and there, but the game can sometimes be frustrating. The dialogues can be overwhelming at first, but you quickly realize that the npc keep hashing and rehashing the same content, and to me that was the main disappointment. But the background and and storyline are quite interesting (and even instructive), and you don't get to play an Inquisitor very often.
I actually ended up going for Inquisitor despite most of the recommendations in this post leaning in the other direction. At the moment I feel more in the mood for a new RPG, and if it's good that's good and if not I can at least get some good review fodder out of it (unreached potential is much more interesting to review than a game that's just terrible). I still do plan on getting La Mulana fairly soon though, as it also looks fun :)
