Völgarr the Überbeard to friends.

Volgarr the Viking, a fantastic action-oriented indie platformer true to the spirit of the classics of the genre, is available 60% off on GOG.com. That's only $4.79 for the next 24 hours!

Volgarr the Viking is a game quite in tone with how we imagine Vikings. Badass, straight to the point, ready for epic deeds, with not much time for stories until there's fighting and looting to be done. Stories are better left for long winter nights, and enjoyed while sipping mead by the hearthfire. Right here, right now--it is the time for action. This game offers some actual classic hardcore arcade action, made even more enjoyable with support for Dinput and Xinput controllers. There's seven worlds to explore across 30 maps, all bristling with high quality handcrafted pixel animation. On your way, you'll run into over 30 unique traps and enemies, including huge bosses that take up the entire screen!

Put on some heavy metal through your speakers and get yourself in the mood for an old-school platforming challenge with Volgarr the Viking, for only $4.79, on GOG.com. The Indie Gem Promo lasts until Thor's Day, February 27, at 10:59AM GMT.

PaterAlf: One week ago I would have bought it without hesitation. Now after you gave up one of your core principles I might as well wait untill I get it for a dollar in a bundle. That's more or less what you told us in your letter: If we don't like your regional pricing, we should simply wait for a better deal.
Whatever works for you -- this already is a better deal, though, and not regionally priced. :/

I don't know, regardless of how you feel about GOG or the current regional pricing discussion, you're basically implying that this game isn't worth more than a dollar, which seems incredibly insulting towards the creator(s).

If you're interested in the game, and you're only refusing to buy it here because of the new policy, go ahead and buy it directly from the developer if possible.
Nice. Have been interested in this one since it was released here (which is *extremely* rare in case of indie platform games). Bought.

Then, boycott games that are regionally priced and buy the among those that interest you in rest otherwise you're not doing much to drive your point across unless you know of another digital distributor whose entire catalog is uniformly priced.

You are right, my wording was a little unfair here. In fact I think that more or less every game is worth more than a dollar and I can't remember the last time that I didn't paid at least double the average for a bundle.

Normally I buy indie games in a bundle and another copy here on GOG (full price or in the first promo).

I know that there isn't a regional price on this game yet, but I wanted to express that because of there recent policy I'm probably not willing to buy indie games here any longer. And that I think that their suggestion to wait for a better deal when you don't like their pricing is very poor (it should be in the interest of a shop to give their customers always the best offer, so that they buy immediately).

No offense to the the developers of this game was intended. Sorry if I was unclear about that before.

Smannesman: I'll also wait for a bundle.
Gog's Adult Swim Bundle: Volgarr, Jazzpunk and Fist Puncher :D
damn!
If I hadn't to buy some books, I would sooooo buy this.

I don't really understand those 1 dollar deals or bundles in general. I figure, if a game isn't worth more than a dollar, why would I want to play it? A good game is always worth more than that, and I try to avoid playing bad ones at all.

I could see one valid reason for cheap bundles: Try out many different Indie games at a low price, and if you really like one or two from the bundle, go ahead and buy a full price copy directly from the developer to support them. That way you support the creation of good software, and don't waste much money on bad games -- best of both worlds.

Anyhow, this game looks pretty fun, and I dig the Viking theme, but I think I'm getting too old for super-tough retro difficulty, so I'll pass. :P

That would be cool, they're all games I'd like to own but probably wouldn't get around to playing any time soon :P

Great games, huh? I've been waiting for some more Adult Swim games like Super House of Dead Ninjas and Super Puzzle Platformer Deluxe here on GOG. Fingers crossed!

Want a tip about Jazzpunk?
Never, I mean, NEVER check screenshots and also don't check trailers.
It will somehow spoil the fun :)

Funny thing is that the older I get, the better I get at this kind of games. Old C64 games that I was never able to complete when I was a kid don't seem to be a problem at all now that I'm 38 years old.

I think it's the opposite for me -- I find myself turning more and more into a "casual gamer", I think. Hah hah.

But I'll make an exception for certain games. Generally the more captivated I am by a game, the more likely I'll be to keep trying, even if the game is brutally hard. ( Completed Demon's Souls multiple times, and also finished Dark Souls. ) But with most games I lose patience and interest after a while. Doesn't help that I have so many games to play and not enough time for all of them ( which I blame largely on GOG and their frequent promos ).
Nice indie promo, had my eye on this game for a while, might have to pick it up. Thanks!
It needs more bonus content.
Hard but good game.
Finally played this just the other night. It's well done, with elements reminiscent of Altered Beast and Shadow Of The Beast. But ultimately too hard for me, so I moved on.

Also, every time I hear the name of the game I'm reminded of the old Marvel the Mustang commercial, and end up singing to myself "Volgarr the Viking, he's almost for real!"
