Updated version is out on GOG, but I REALLY do not feel like reinstalling.
Could you GOG guys offer incremental patch from the devs? Because if you release new games, and those games are going to get patches, then always reinstalling them will not be a feasible option (as I am sure you are no doubt aware).

Pretty sure GOG just release what the devs give them. FTL got incremental patches because the dev must have given them incremental patches. If the dev just sends them a brand new build then all they can do is put that up.

Have you actually tried reinstalling the game?

I'm asking because some time ago, I had to reinstall a 2 GB GOG game, and it took only a couple of seconds. Apparently the installer recognized the files that were already there. I found that pretty impressive.

Thats not impressive thats some pretty basic stuff and can actually be harmful if you want to do a repair installation.

Really? That's awesome. I wonder if that would work with a game like Witcher 2 that is a couple of GIGs.

Hotline Miami is bugged up the arse. The developers shouldn't have released the game in this form, it's still very fun and surrealish though, like GTA1 on acid ;)

Well, in my case it sped up the installation process by factor of several thousand, and I was quite happy about that. :) And I haven't seen any other installer implementing this.

Also, regarding repair installations - you still have the option to do an unistall/reinstall in case a repair operation doesn't lead to the desired result (which isn't a given anyway, it depends on how the installer checks the files that are present). I'm not entirely sure how the feature works and what its limits are, but it definitely worked for the two games I tested it with. One of them was Spellforce (IIRC), the other one was Two Worlds.

That is quite interesting if it is meant to work like that, but still very inpractical. Redownloading whole game every time is just unnecessary hassle.
If the devs do not provide incremental patch, GOG should hassle them until they do.

For bigger games like Alan Wake and Painkiller, they have released standalone patches. So you've already gotten what you are asking for when it is appropriate. Given the size of Hotline Miami's installer, a normal patch wouldn't be much different in size. Do more research next time.

Yeah, I can see that the prospect of having to download several GB to patch a game isn't that great, even if the actual installation then goes swift.

Regarding the incremental patches: Some games already have them. Especially the larger games - the two Alan Wake games for example, also Divine Divinity. The policy that you are asking for may already be in place. Perhaps ask support about it? :)

One thing I'm curious about is the DLC that the developers are planning, according to the Steam forums. In all likelihood, for a game of this size and nature it'll be free, but if it did cost money (and personally I wouldn't mind giving these guys more because I love this game) as far as I know it would be unprecedented for GOG, and I wonder how GOG would handle it.

Yeah, incremental patches would be nice. At the same time though if the game is under a GB I can see why they wouldn't really put a priority on bothering.
