I know that this should probably go in the Tropico section, but aproximately nobody ever goes there so...

I'm in sandbox mode & no matter what I do I can't seem to bulid a dock... it always tells me it needs to be in the water or on a straight sandy beach even when it is. Sometimes it even tells me that the area that I am trying to put it is already in use when it very clearly isn't. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is killing the game for me.

You posted a question there two days ago, and got an answer the same day... Just saying.
"Docks are a special type of building that must be placed in a certain orientation to be built. You can rotate the dock with the rotation button below the graphic in the construction menu. To be placed, the dock must have its ramp side towards a sandy beach and within 8 cells of a road and the wharf side towards the water. A yellow road will appear where the road will be built to connect it to an existing road. This will not always be where you want it to be, so you may want to build a road closer to the shore first. If the dock does not turn green, meaning a suitable place has been found, try rotating it to another orientation, building a road closer to shore or looking for a different site along the shore."
Does that help?

That really didn't help me too much & wasn't answered any other times after the initial answer (before you say something about it being marked the solution... that was done a few minutes ago because nobody else was obviously going to answer.

Omg, sorry but I read that last word as "ock" with a c instead of a d. Ooops.

Alright, I hope this doesn't sound to stupid, but have you build a road close but not to close to the beach, were the dock should go, if you know what i mean. And remember, it has to be a sandy beach. Those were my two hickups at the Beginning.

And have you tried building it in Campaign mode? Maybe it's a weird bug/glitch ...
