This has to be the greatest thing to happen to PC gaming since Steam.

Don't we have enough of these threads already?
I mean, sure, being able to buy games I've missed is kind of nice, but this sycophancy is just nauseating!

Well im glad to say you keph, are part of a very small minority here. Bare in mind that this site is still in beta and has more and more people are joining all the time, so if someone likes what they've done, they are more than entitiled to say so. I don't know how many betas you've taken part in but feedback is usually welcomed across the board, not just when something is wrong.
Personally I'm very impressed with what they've done, and im sure most people on here would agree with me. Why you feel the need to berate someone for saying they like the site is beyond me.
I think it would be enough to thank in ONE thread, not make a milion threads about thanking and spammig forums by it :D
I'd rather see lots of threads praising GOG as opposed to lots of threads burying it.
if for some reason, some how, GoG changes to support newer games, this place would be a steam killer, as long as they get to include the price of the soundtrack with the game. :3

My thoughts exactly.
As much as I like GOG, topics consisting of nothing more than "GOG rules!" are hardly productive. I would say expecting topics of higher standards on the forums is perfectly in order, otherwise we won't be able to live up to that "classy community" line advertised on the frontpage.
That ONE thread to rule them all might as well be this one.

He shoots, aaaaand... he misses the point completely. I'm not criticizing the site, I'm criticizing everyone who seems to think that a million threads consisting of nothing but verbal fellatio is a good idea and LET'S ALL DO THAT YEAH OKAY

.. I lol'd.
But hey, let the people speak up. I'm sure the GOG team isn't "annoyed" or anything by threads like this one. :)

No, it wouldn't, because the majority of publishers are still under the delusion that DRM is necessary to combat piracy. GOG would never be allowed to sell most modern titles under their current terms, and I would far rather see them stay true to their original promise and purpose rather than compromise it in order to get some big titles.
On the other hand, there are a large number of independent developers who would likely be more willing to sell games with DRM and are in need of publishers. Valve has, if you believe everything you read, become harder to deal with for the independents lately, so perhaps GOG could pick up some exclusive titles. It may not be what this site was set up for, but it would still be a good thing.
hey, I didnt' say they had to be big name games.
when ever I read this title I think
"I'm not gonna lie. I'll not be a gentle man. Behind the boat house. I'll tell you my dark secret. I promise you I will treat you well, my sweet angel, so help me Jesus.
Yeah,
Give it up to me. Give it up to me. Do you wanna be, my angel?"

Oh god, that's possibly the most bizarrely hilarious summation of this thread ever ;)
+1'd ;)

lol, now there’s irony for you. I'd like you to point out where I stated that you were criticising the site, if you wouldn't mind. As to me it would appear that you are the one who has missed the point entirely. From what you’ve written in your post, I’d say I’ve hit the nail on the head as it were. Read:
“Why you feel the need to berate someone for saying they like the site is beyond me.”
Your feelings about the site were never in question; however your attitude to a new user wanting to show their appreciation is boorish to say the least. Whether a user decides to voice their opinion as part of a pre made thread or to start a new one is entirely their own choice. Does it make a huge amount o difference either way? To me, honestly no.
The forum is set up in such a way that it’s easy to find threads you’ve written on, using the recent posts and replies link, so if you really are this disgruntled by seeing a few people make some harmless threads then I’d recommend you use that feature instead of reading through all those “million threads consisting of nothing but verbal fellatio” that you dislike so much. Then everyone’s happy, no?

Hey man,
You don't have to read any threads on how awesome GoG.com is.
Yeah you're right, that these kinds of messages are best placed through the support option where you can tell 'em 'lol, love you guys like my wife, except I won't try to do you in the butt every night!'
EDIT: (I just have more to say)
But, you know, I don't take issue with people who want to give praise. It is a great service. and what do you think, you think these guys are trying to get something extra by backing GoG.com?
Maybe they will, but I know, as well as you do, that GoG figures us to be customers, perhaps friends, but at the end of the day, they want us to buy their product, so they can take home a profit and feed their damn kids. At least we can let them know they're doing a good job so they don't go on some over agressive campaign searching for love.
If you don't like GoG.com, that's fine, your opinion, but there's no need to punish yourself by reading every damn thread that claims they're great.
Yeah, all they're doing is redistributing old games, big whoop, getting the rights to titles that no one cares about any more and selling them to an eclectic few who have some sort of strange fetish for 2d graphics (I know there's some 3D games on here, let me rant), to make a quick buck, what's so noble about that?
Well, being one of those fetishists, all I can really say is that I appreciate it, especially because all the other services who cater to much wider audiences are filled with DRM, high requirement clients, and a constant internet connection to play.
Yes, I can understand where the number of posts saying 'Hey, GoG.com is great!' can get on ones nerves, but again, if you don't like the crowd, don't show up to the party.
