pfft, how you gonna play old games?
Nice :D but how will you use 3 channel DDR3 support with 4gb of ram i guess it should be 2,2,2=6 gb to get the max because if you don't use 3 channel your memory bandwidth would reduce by 20% - 30%
I actually was planning to get 6GB but forgot to change my spreadsheet haha.
Personally I'd be going for the geforce, apart from the fact that I've had nothing but trouble every time I've tried an ATI card (which is always my luck and not really indicative of quality), AMD have apparently been losing a fair chunk of cash lately before the current financial crisis and have started laying people off, you never know with the shitty economy it might be the tipping point.
I hope not or intel & nvidia will use it as an excuse to raise prices from an effective monopoly and probably just say "whadda ya gonna do? buy VIA? BWAHAHAHAHA!"

lol ati always have superior color depth and wider color palette than nvidia has over movies but when it comes to drivers ati always have compatibility issues with the newer games and you have to wait for updated drivers of ati...i personally own 2x 4850 crossfire and had some issues with newer games until ati fixed it after some time..with the nvidia cards i used i have never had any issues with drivers or games.
It's about in line with what I'd expect in Australia at the moment. Prices are meant to rise upto 30% here off end of 2008 when shops stocks run out in the first quarter,
I finally got my shiny new PC 3 days ago. (Quad2.66/0.8TB/4gig ram/9800gtx+1GB,yaddayadda)
It's the first computer I've purchased that was not only under $2000 (freight pushed it above though), but allows me to finally max everything I have out without a performance hit. Bar say, Crysis or something resource hungry I have yet to try.
And you know, aside from probably X3 and a weekly game of TF2 with friends, I'll be back on the good old stuff rather soon.
GeForce all the way....
And ho, that Seagate driver, don't take it.....

KingofGnG: GeForce all the way....

Indeed. I never had anything but problems with ATi cards.
The seagate will be dead in a few weeks.

If it wasn't for the driver support I'd stay with AMD/Ati but seeing that they tend to screw up with it, and given the recent letter the AMD headchief sent to the staff about layoff's in all but essential parts of the company I'd switch to nVidia.
Also, 6GB of RAM minimum for that spec.
Building myself a new comp soon too, with similar specs. Going for 1t instead of 1.5t for the storage but going for the new GTX 295 card. The difference being that I live in the U.S., and buying the parts from newegg will probably set me back about $1300 after rebates. Yay!
Go for the GeForce. The specs on that card are phenomonal, not to mention the added bonus of PhysX you get. Plus, if you ever want to get into stereoscopic 3D gaming, NVidia released this awesome hardware that works only with their cards.
