Basically Joe, it suffered from the fact it was unfinished. Masters never quite ran a business well. It's fine for them to maybe not get the best prices, but to just run your business into the ground? That's just rubbish. Then there's the annoying bug where sometimes traders are locked into their own city, and all other cities are... their own city. Decent testing should have found that, it probably did, they just didn't fix it. Then we have the marriage balancing issue. Trade your way all you like, marry and you're rich, it's too heavy a skew. Overall the game promised a lot, but really you just feel a bit detached from it all. It's a nice idea, and I'm all for games trying it, but just as all Molyneux's games were flawed by their ambition, so was the guild.
