It was a good movie. Was it anything special? no. But did it deliver on what it promised? Yes. What it promised was old school bad ass Mechs vs Kaiju fights. If Mech anime or Toho films are your thing, you will love this film to the ends of the earth. Also, It has Glados. Sadly, she does not sing during the end credits.

(Glados is the Jeager A.I)

The first Kaiju they fight Looks alot like a certain Gamera villian, only not at all goofy.

I totally caught that too. There are other Kaiju similarities going on as well. Guillermo Del Toro knew exactly what he was doing with this move.

As soon as they said knifehead, I knew what they were referencing.
I got a question for you, or anyone else really. When I was just a little dude, maybe 8-10 years old or something, I would watch some Kaiju TV series. Im pretty sure it was Japanese and dubbed into English like the rest of the kaiju stuff, but I can barley remember anything but the fight scenes, so I could be wrong. The show was very much for children, and the main character was a little boy. There was a good kaiju that would protect everyone from bad kaiju. I assume the boy was friends with it or something, but like I said, I only really remember the monster battles. The good kaiju was a quadrupedal monster that had a big blade on its head. This could just be my juvenile mind having effectively re-written the memory to be way more awesome that the real show, but I recall the blade being wicked looking. It was no knife, but a giant fricken scimitar attached to the beasts head. I remember him chopping a flying kaiju in half. Or at lest I think I do. Memory is a really tricky thing, so I have no idea how much of this is truth, and how much was just my overactive imagination. So anyway, the actual question I want to ask is:

Do you have any idea what that show was? I would love to track it down. I saw it on satellite dish back when they were huge, and physically moved to point at different satellites to get different stations. There were tons of crazy stations back then, and I have no clue what one it was on, so I cant track it down that way.
