It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

jefequeso: I had to deal with one of these on a friend's computer. It wouldn't let me install antivirus software because...surprise...it claimed it was a virus! Oh the irony. So I booted the computer up in safe mode, installed my antivirus software, and KILLED IT WITH FIRE! AHAHAHAHAHAH!

It was very satisfying.

Runehamster: Y'know what they say - if you have a problem, kill it with fire. If the problem isn't gone, you didn't use enough gasoline.
amen to that

orcishgamer: It's much better to just get in the habit of not taking pdf files unless they both come from a reputable source and you actually need them.
Yup. (Y)

The 'Enhanced Security' option should be enabled by default, seems strange that it is disabled.

LiquidOxygen80: I caught one, but I have a GoBack style utility that takes snapshots of my drive state, etc, everytime I shutdown my PC. I simply choose a safe boot and problem gone.

I agree with the OP though. These things really are the most retardedly annoying things ever conceived of.

GameRager: Unless the virus/etc corrupts the restore states and you can't go back.....that happened to me once when I has system restore enabled on my old pc. For awhile it helped if a virus trashed my system once in a blue moon, but then a bloody virus came along that even trashed the restores which really sucked.
I've had that happen once and then I had to run a chkdsk plus a lot of other bullshit in order to fix the restore I wanted to use. Biggest pain ever, but I didn't pick it up from a fake anti-virus virus. Don't even know how, although I theorize that it might have been embedded into a picture or something like that.

Navagon: It's a shame things like UAC aren't more intelligently designed. Surely it's not that hard to design something that can tell the difference between a mouse click and dodgy software doing stuff by itself?
UAC should be renamed to User Annoyance Control....because it is just that sometimes. :\

You see, this is what I never really understood. What's the point in security software that's more annoying than a virus?

Plus there are some viruses/etc that can circumvent even UAC rendering it useless(like some of the more intrusive security panel/exe blocker variants.).

I leave it on on Win7 admin account because it's not too intrusive(it comes up usually only when I add/remove/etc from program files and other such folder or run certain crappily coded/permission leveled games.), but in Vista the UAC is so obtrusive it makes me want to rip my hair out. Heck with all the apps I use to secure my pc the worst I usually get are those annoying homepage changing viruses or stuff of a similar threat level, and those are rare. Why add more security if I don't need it or have stuff that protects my PC enough to make adding it superfluous?
