It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Hello,
I've just bought a game, but when I click on download, I just get an error page for not being able to connect. Same happens when trying to download the GOG downloader, and when trying to download any other game from my library. I can access the gog website fine but I can't download anything.

Is anyone else having this problem or do you know how to fix it. Thanks in advance.
I think you can try to check your internet connection and disable firewall (temporally). If it doesn't work, contact support.

Greetings!

My internet is fine. As I wrote, I can access the page normally and I can doanload from other sites as well. The only things that don't work are downloading the GOG downloader or games from GOG. And two weeks ago it worked fine as well. This is really starting to annoy me since I've just paid money for something that doesn't work...

Turning off the firewall doesn't work either. Sometimes, after I've clicked the link a couple times, it starts a dowload, but instead of downloading the 450MB it stops after around 400KB as "finished download"......

Seems more like a problem of GOG to me. Am I the only one with this?
It's always be a bad idea to completely disable your firewall.

Try a different browser.
If the problem remains contact support.

EDIT: That's from FAQ:

7. I can't download my purchased game, why?
First, make sure it's not a general problem related to your network or firewall settings. For example, if you've set the highest level of security in Windows “Control Panel” -> “Internet Options”, then you won't be able to download any ,exe files from any website, including GOG.com. The very same thing might happen depending on how strict your firewall / router settings are. Also, make sure you have turned off any external download managers as they might interfere with starting the download and try again. Finally, you could try using a different web browser to see if the problem persists.
By far the most convenient solution to any download problem is using the GOG.com Downloader. It's a small, robust application that's built specifically to cope such issues, from interrupted connections to file corruption. Look above for a more detailed description.

Everything's fine downloading files on my end. As mentioned before, you should really contact GOG support.
Well if you read more topics here, it seems you aren't the only one.

There are 2 methods to download from GOG. First method is direct http downloads (GOG.com downloader off), second method is through the downloader (GOG.com downloader on).

The http downloads are not handled by GOG servers, but by their CDN. The url you get from the "My Account" page has a session id that is IP specific. If for whatever reason the IP the CDN sees is not the same as the IP GOG sees, you get a 403 forbidden error. Ability to access GOG doesn't necessarily mean ability to access the CDN.

As for the downloader, since it is a separate program from your browser that tries to access the internet, it is possible that your antivirus/firewall are blocking it, thus milito's suggestion to temporarily disable the firewall/antivirus (and enable them again after the test). The downloader handles the session id thingy automatically, so you shouldn't get any 403s with that one.

Now, you say you do get a download starting but not finishing properly. Is that through the browser or through the downloader? Also, what browser are you using, and is the browser sending the links to the downloader or not?
Thanks for your answers.

@vanchann:
Using anoter browser unfortunately doens't work. My internet options can't stop me from downloading exe files and using the GOG downloader (obviously) doesn't work either since I can't download it :p
Thanks anyway.

@lugum
I don't know which topics you are referring to because I didn't see any recent ones.

Thank you again, I will contact the support now.

edit:
@JMich
I turned off the firewall, but still can't download the downloader so I can't use it. I've also restarted my PC and internet connection. Sometimes (after clicking the link about 10 times) a download starts but "finishes" after around 400KB.
Also, I'm using firefox, but it doesn't work with IE either.

just for clarification: this is what I get when trying to download the GOG downloader.

I get the same when trying to download the game file.
It's basically saying: "error: disconnected"

While waiting for support to reply, try grabbing the downloader from here (Setup_Downloader_3.6.0_stable.exe, check digital signature to verify it's correct). If you can download it, install it, run it, and log in, then try downloading again. If you still can't download it, I can send another link.

What's making the stop sign in the lower left corner, is that an anti-virus program?

ABP? AdBlock Plus.

Downloading the downloader from there worked, thanks, but when I try to download the game via the downloader, the same thing happens. It starts the download and immediately says "completed" without having downloaded anything (see attachement). I just can't seem to get a connection with GOG. Thanks for your help though.

@LinustheBold: That's AdBlock, it doesn't interfere with downloads.

edit:
ok, new error message in the downloader. "check sum error 0". Seems like only the support can solve this for me.

Thanks for your help anyways. It is much appreciated :)

Now that the downloader is installed though, there is a log file. Go to %localappdata%\GOG.com and open logger.log file. You are looking for any errors in the file.

Pre-post edit: the check sum error 0 means that the hash of the first chunk (10MB) is not what it's supposed to be. Since it doesn't download the full 10MB of the chunk, the hash is obviously incorrect.

I can't find the folder with the log file (I'm not that versed in PCs anymore :p)
I'm now waiting for the support to answer. I guess the chunk thing basically comes down to the same thing as before, when it wouldn't download anymore than 400KB. But either way, maybe the support can help.

Thanks a lot JMich :)
