I remember the first time I played Risk, when I was about twelve years old. It amazed me that there were board games as complex and large in scale as it was! I still shy away from it, preferring the easier Sorry! or Life, but the idea of a board game about ruling the world hits a romantic nerve in me :D

Not actually a "War Game", but Seven Years War is an old RTS about the fight between the Japanese and the Mongols, and it fascinated me at the time. I had already played other Strategy games, both RT and TB, but this one was a little more complicated, and it grew on me. The music was awesome too :D

really any one of them. I don't have any of them, and they all look interesting.

When I was younger, me and my older brother would often try to make war games. for instance I built a game derived from the card game war, basically each suit was a faction. The goal was to protect the king. Each card was assigned a damage and a movement (the ace had special abilities if I remember right) We would use a ruler to see how far a card could move. As for well known war games, ive always been a fan of risk.
