I successfully resisted buying Theme Hospital yesterday but they got me with Legend of Grimrock today.
Let's see what tomorrow brings.

MichaelFurlong: It's just that I have heard bad things about the game mechanics of Grimrock.

JaqFrost: Just watched the WTF is... Legend of Grimrock and it looks fun enough for me to invest $4, but I'd love to hear your take on the game mechanics if you don't mind sharing?
I have heard that the combat is particularly difficult and requires people to use gimmicky tactics (Attack, run back, attack, run back. Or circling enemies, using poor AI to win combat rather than any tactical decisions.

Yeah, that's a big turn-off for me as well. It's accurate to the original games it's inspired by, but was also one of the worst aspects of them. The ones where you just stood there and it turned into a click-fest were just as bad.

I also really wish it didn't use real-time combat, especially for a party-based game. If it had turn-based combat it would open the door to making things more strategic as well.

Can anyone comment on how it compares to Etrian Odyssey? I noticed that they're reprinted the older titles as part of the marketing push for the new 3DS one.
The only games of this style I have played are the might and magic series which I really enjoyed. How would Grimrock compare to M&M 6 and 7?
We talking from start of December?.

I Have played it alot, I think I'm on the Last level or so, and I would say that Circling and running are not Gamey tactics. The game is quite hard, though some of that is due to my ineptitude. Most enemies really require you to maneuver quite intensively because of Weakpoints or just sheer difficulty. There are a significant amount of enemies that will butcher you quickly if you do not circle and run.
Well I like GoG very mutch with al these awesome deals! But my backaccount doesn't like me :(
My wallet is doing well this year. I learned my lesson from over indulging last year, so im only biting on the really good deals.
I use a fannypack so my wallet is safe at all times.
I guess I have a problem,
I've always thought Magic Carpet looked like it would be total shit to play in this age, so I bought it just to make sure that I was right.

Yeah, RCT was a total shock for me to play as well.

& I just picked up Ground Control 2. May be getting Total Annihilation soonish.

Yeah, I think I would prefer turn-based combat, but I think I'm going to give it a try. I'm still iffy on whether I should get Inquisitor or not. I still have a few hours to decide. :P
I am ok, have only bought games for ~8 so far.
But I have put a bunch of stuff in my wishlist, hoping for some discounts on them. Will buy more later for sure.
No purchases yet. I'm curious to see how more of the daily promos turn out, but my willpower will break soon enough.
No problems, will take a look at the dailies as my backlog is big enough and I don't think any games on my current wishlists are must-have.
