I'd like to know specifically how it compares to my GTX 650, since I'm looking at a laptop for my brother to play games with me.

Firstly: GTX 650 != GTX 650M. The 650M is a mobile version of the 650 that is considerably less powerful. I'm going to assume you mean the GTX 650M vs. Radeon 7730M.

The 7730M is much slower by comparison.

It is a 2 gb model, while my GTX 650 (not mini, it's in my desktop) is a gb. Big difference much? Advanced chipsets count, but actual video memory does equally correct?

They can stick whatever amount of video ram on that dud. The GPU is crap and won't ever be able to run anything at a high enough resolution to actually make use of that amount of video ram.

Also the M after 650M does not stand for "mini" it stands for "mobile".

A 7730 mobile GPU has roughly 30% less power than a 650 GTX desktop GPU.

Indeed. but to be fair one should compare mobile versions between them, not a mobile 7730m vs a desktop 650.

The 7730m is a scaled down version of the 7750m. While based on a cape verde GPU, it will in most cases be 15 to 25% slower than the 650m. In Skyrim, it will be 17% slower , and 32% in Arkam Asylum, for instance. The 2gbs are of little importance on screens used in laptops.

Err... the OP is choosing between Desktop GPU power and Notebook mobility and asked how the before mentioned GPUs compare to make an informed descision before probably spending a few hundred bucks (correct me if I'm wrong). Its not fair that I cannot put my bigtower and 24" screen into a 15,6" Notebook bag either, but this thread is not about fairness ;)

EDIT: Doh. This is about laptop graphics, not desktop!

If you are looking at AMD desktop graphics, then this chart and article for the Never Settle Bundle might help with getting a little extra out of a purchase. I went with a 7870 myself, but that card was too big for my tower case - you might be better off with the smaller models.
