While I'm campaigning for games I want to see for sale on GOG, I'd like to know just exactly how they get to be there on the "For Sale" list. How does the licensing process work and stuff? I looked through the FAQ and couldn't find an answer.

1) Contact or be contacted by publisher
2) Negotiate rights to distribute game(s)
3) Distribute game(s)
And how long can this process take, usually?
First of all we have to say it's not so easy to find the right holders for some of the games, especially the really old ones - it's a long road from the very beginning. When we finally make contact with the right person from the right company, our business development team inquires about the availability of back-catalog titles. It'€™s a matter of, on a publisher-by-publisher basis, trying to figure out who'€™s receptive to the idea of monetizing their back catalogs and€“ seeing what'€™s available. If they'€™re interested in it, then we just go through the process of getting them an agreement, and getting master copies of the games, which might be tricky sometimes. And basically that's the whole secret ;)
