At least according to that. Suppose its true that there's a sucker born every minute and a lot of them buy oblivion
Back in the day, when I was a pretty avid collector and made sure everything purchased came with original case, inlay and manual, farming digtal content for Everquest on eBay seemed like the most massive waste of money ever.

Now....that most of my purchases are digital...it still seems like the most massive waste of money ever.
I laugh. In disbelief.

What dolts.
I bought Horse Armour!

Of course, it was quite a while ago, and it came with all the other extras on a disc.
A lot of video gamers are obsessive completionists. I can't laugh at them, because I know that I was once like that. My Steam account is embarrassing. So many gamers have an issue, whether they realize it or not, that the DLC we are disappointed with is a common and profitable business decision. Our industry has a plague, and that plague is Horse Armour.
That's the whole point of DLC. It doesn't matter how long time it has been released, it only matters, that the core game it works in is still playable today. Though I haven't bought any DLC for Oblivion myself.
I've got horse armour twice. One physical GOTY copy, and one digital GOTY copy. :P
I love how he then goes on to say that as long as it justifies its price tag DLC always sells. Fair enough, but how does that explain horse armour?

The fact that it sells justifies its price tag, and as long as it can justify its price tag it'll sell... um, wait...
I bought Horse Armor. One of the first DLC I've ever bought. Kinda ruined me on DLC forever.

If it sells and people don't feel ripped off then, yes regardless of how perverse that is, it does justify its price tag. But seriously, who isn't going to be left feeling stupid after that one? Well people who already are stupid, I suppose...

NOOOOO!!!! THE COMPOUNDED STUPIDITY WILL DESTROY THE WORLD!

I bags being the warrior/barbarian. Who wants to be the sidekick rogue, the mage, the dark mage and the hunter/elf?

Let's save the world!

Oh wait, Wandering Sky for $4.95.....?
I'm kinda suprised people were buying it in the first place. Even for an obsesive completionist, they have to realize what a bad deal it is.
unfortunately, dlc's, like drm or client software, are here to stay.

I'd say that their advent gradually changed the way I buy games. I now tend to wait till they publish a GOTY. That's why I got the Empire/Napoleon GOTY edition : both games and all dlcs together. Same for Fallout 3.

For oblivion, I did not buy separate dlcs but got some when I bought the Knight of the nine expansion. Just didn't care about these anyway.
I don't know about some of you but I've gone the other way. I have to be pretty damn sure I'll like the game a lot in order to buy any expansions. I take an incredibly long time to finish a game and I'll usually get bored midway through only to pick it up again sometime later and when i finish a game, the sense of accomplishment is enough for me to uninstall it and stash it somewhere until i almost completely forget about it.

I couldn't finish Neverwinter Night's platinum edition because eventually it felt like work (left the Kingmaker expansion unplayed. Luckily the third expansion was the best and that helped me push through). I'm glad I never bought Red Tide for Men of War because I only managed to finish the russian campaign and was fully aware the difficulty would only ramp up. I've bought GotY editions simply because they're real cheap on sales but not always looking to finish everything in a game. Good lord, if I spent time looking for every single bit of land or quest on some of the games i own, I'd never finish anything.

Not saying you can't run wild buying whatever you please, but i feel like a tad of an outsider seeing I don't spend any money on DLC's that can cost all the way up to a full game on GOG.
