Look in the game's directory (usually under Program Files\GOG\yourgamenamehere.
The ini and other files are text files. They contain commands that make the game run this way or that way. You can change the info in them so your game runs better.
Open them up using the windows accessory called notepad. It comes free with Windows, so you've already got it. Fiddle around in each file as the other post directed. Be really careful not to do anything like add extra spaces into your lines anywhere. Then save the file with your new changes, under the same name.
Most games have little things you can access like this to make things work a bit differently.
