Ok, picture one part Sins of a Solar Empire, one part "Defending the Roman Empire Puzzle"*, and one part old school arcade game. I cannot say enough good about this game...it's going to be the best recieved indy game of all time IMHO, it definitely deserves as much attention as Braid, and certainly more acclaim. Check it out.

So is it a tower defense game?
I've seen the shots, I've read the hype. Now I'm not going to do a damn thing until I either see a gameplay video or a demo.

i think i played a demo for this a year ago or so. Though of course that wasn't the final build. Seemed pretty playable and complete at that time though.
It's more of an RTS.
The best way to describe it is "Grand Strategy - Macro/Lite".
It's literally empire building/warfare on the complete macro level. It does away with ALL micromanagement and focuses squarely on the basic logistics and strategic elements.
In fact, I would say it's a logistics lovers wet dream! It's the roman empire defense puzzle made into a game, with unit production added.
I hope it expands and adds massively to Dyson. Not that Dyson isn't lovely, but it's more a showcase of simple & cool gfx-sound-interface than a game.
I muchly enjoyed Dyson, partly relaxing, low strategy, getting insanely huge swarms and just mobbing the whole map :)
Eufloria's one of the very few games I've done the pre-order thing for,
Pre-ordered. This better be good!
I played dyson extensively and really liked it. Does anyone know if there is much different in eufloria other than a price tag?
