Brace yourself, Ned. The 2012 DRM-Free Holiday Sale is coming!

No, there's no release today. But there's a good reason: starting tomorrow, we'll be starting our winter season / festivus / celebration of your choice sale, and we know that you'll be thrilled about it.

What's the sale going to be? Well, we would hate to spoil the surprise early. But we'll be offering your favorite games for sale at prices that should warm even the grinchiest of hearts. While you're waiting, though, we've started some holiday celebrations--you know how we love to give you guys gifts--and you can enter into our week-long holiday-themed caption contests right here, if you're so inclined, or stay tuned for more holiday silliness in our forums as well as on [url=https://www.facebook.com/gogcom]Facebook, and Google+.

Tell your friends, hide your ducks, load the caravans, and get ready, because we're starting the gifting season early with a huge game giveaway tomorrow along with our sale, so you know you don't want to miss out. In the meantime, snuggle up in something warm, drink some eggnog, and we'll see you all tomorrow.

Maybe, just maybe I'll be able to finally unload tons of cheap stuff I've got sitting in giftables in exchange for cheap gogs...

F4LL0UT: Why do the holiday sales have to be the same month I have to get everyone presents and tickets to visit my family? :(
I've opted out of celebrating the holidays for about twenty years now and it does wonders for your budget. I tend to do random gifts to loved ones, mostly connected to my stumbling across something they'd like during my travels.

So, I'm eager to let this DRM-free sale commence. :)
My Wishlist is going to be CUT, cut to the ground I tell ya!

So you can offer gogs to your friends and family!
Four games on my wish list. I hope they all go one sale. That would be sweet! GOG has a way though of tempting me with games I hadn't thought about or wasn't aware of at prices that are hard to resist.

I didn't think the sale would come this early. I'm excited!

I also hope the free game isn't something I already have. That would be niceness. :D
Oh boy, I cannot wait. I've been looking forward to this for a little while now.

towerbooks3192: I wish GOG is gonna release the new King's Bounty DRM free. Would love to buy that for the holidays
Yes, that would be great.
Please let 7th Guest be on sale... I've been waiting for that to be placed on sale since it was first added to the library!
I don't really need more new games. For old that matter :) But can't say no to a good deal.

Opted out in gifting or everything? Cuz I know I could never go a holiday season without my holiday films/cocoa/meals/etc. :D

xep624: Well, honestly the new one is good, but trying to get all those achievements on steam just ruins the fun... Vikings is a great theme, the maps are great, story is interesting, lots of things to do, battles are not easy at the beginning (on hard and impossible level), but there were some bugs with the quests and after spending altogether 100+ hours I'm starting the game for the fourth time... It's still addictive as hell, but the first island is linear and there is not much choice in units which you can recruit - vikings only (the weak ones). Playing without DRM and those stupid achievements (the medals are ok though) would be way much better.... I would buy that again on gog for sure.
Wow! its great to hear that. I was planning to get it as in now now but I was thinking of holding off for a bit until the weekends atleast in case it goes on Gamersgate Daily deals. I was a bit sad to hear about the bugs and the fact that they have been playing it safe by not changing anything from the formula for the 4th time. I really tried to get in to kings bounty but I don't know. It was possible that I was completely burned out of the series at that time.

I wanted to take a break from Eador after the tug-of-war with the AI and I am having a bad night after trying non-necro/chaos wizard and I wanted to check KB series. I had the 3 previous games which I haven't touched since. I really wished its possible to purchase KB warriors of the north off here without DRM. I am worried its not possible since Gamersgate sells a copy that has to be activated through steam.

Edit: Oops! I bought it off Gamersgate to get enough blue coins to buy Fantasy Wars. I just spent $105 today for the RPG maker that was released on Steam and for KB warriors of the north. I wish I have enough money for the steam sale

I especially like the "of your choice" formulation. :)

I didn't even know there is a German version, but after checking out the voiceovers on youtube I kind of wish I'd have never learned about it. ;)

Anyway, not even Steam has German language support for Gemini Rue, and multi-language support is not GOG's top priority, especially not for games that are originally in English, so I wouldn't count on them putting any effort into acquiring the rights to a translation with inferior voiceovers. We can be thankful that they provide German language packs for some of the games that were developed in Germany.
