One of the biggest fantasy series in gaming history.

Might and Magic is one of the defining series of role-playing games that shaped the way we game today along with the Ultima series, The Bard's Tale or Wizardry series. Today, we're offering 16 fantastic Might and Magic games in our catalog for little more than $25 in Might and Magic Madness.

The first game in the series was released 16 years ago! Let's read how the game was reviewed in Compute! magazine in August 1987:
"Might and Magic is an outstanding adventure game. This new release has the potential to take its place alongside The Bard's Tale and Wizard's Crown among the best in the genre. Might and Magic, all 500K of it (done entirely in machine language), contains just about every conceivable fantasy element crammed onto two double-sided disks. Over 4,000 individual locations, each graphically represented, comprise the 55 areas that make up the fantasy world of Varn. On Varn, towns, dungeons, castles, caves, wilderness, and even astral planes have their own themes, difficulty ratings, and special events. It is up to you to traverse this vast and varied fantasy world in order to gain wealth, experience, and the secret of the Inner Sanctum."

If you’ve never played any Might and Magic games, we’d suggest you pick up the 6 pack start with Might and Magic VI: The Mandate of Heaven. After you’re done, get Might and Magic 7: For Blood and Honor, Might and Magic 8: Day of the Destroyer, and Might and Magic 9 to complete the Mightily Magical experience.

Heroes of Might and Magic is probably the most recognizable, acclaimed, and legendary of the whole Might and Magic series. The perfect mix of strategy (many opponents, many castles, many heroes), RPG (gathering experience and leveling), resource management (gathering resources, managing armies) is considered a worldwide standard. It says a lot about the impact of a game series on the industry if other games are reviewed as HoMM-like. It doesn’t matter whether it's Heroes of Might and Magic, Heroes of Might and Magic II: Gold Edition, Heroes of Might and Magic III: Complete, Heroes Chronicles: All Chapters, or Heroes of Might and Magic IV: Complete--each of them is a game so simple to understand and yet so insanely addictive that it will make you want to play “just one more turn” over and over again. If you’ve never played as the Hero, we recommend starting with Heroes of Might and Magic III: Complete Edition--the title considered to be iconic to the series, the magnum opus of 3DO. And if you've ever played any of the M&M games, now it's time to complete your collection, today 75% off in Might and Magic Madness!

yyahoo: How is this the third time? I count twice.

One was I think just before XMas, second time was end of the world and today it is for the third time. Some people are not happy about that, but I really like this series (especially Heroes, even Heroes IV I tried to finish but become a bit boring in the middle...), so I do not mind. Plus I bought Heroes Chronicle today...

nijuu: Think they really stuffed a little bit by showing almost all the bundles on the end of the world sale.They shoulda just done a 80-85% off everything for that one day and leave the bundles as is. As it stands, it left little or nothing for rest of the sale for us to look forward to...

jpolastre: I'm uninterested on the promos following the End of the World promo too, but your strategy is absolutely F*ing TERRIBLE.

- First, I don't think they would get any profit with discounts like that;
- Second, we would also buy everything we want that one day, and we wouldn't even bother with any promo afterwards;
- Third, by practically giving away the games we want the most (Bundles be damned, I would just buy off my whole wishlist!) they would pretty much kill whatever chance they have of us buying these games in the future.

Hope you don't plan on making a living on either marketing or commercial departments. :)
I work in neither haha. Yeah but your right. However, they really need to be a bit more creative dont u think?. the end of the world sale pretty much spoiled the rest of the sale period imho....

Eli: And with GOG's recent addition of the relatively as-yet unknown CD version of "World of Xeen" (which is Might and Magic 4-5 combined) with FULL SPEECH, you're getting one of the greatest RPGs ever made in its best version ever. So if you're wondering whether you should grab this bundle, know that there's never been a better time to buy, and you'll get years and years worth of quality gaming from them.
Woah Woah Woah. Why was there no notice for that? This is a huge change. World of Xeen was the one game that is so incredible hard to get good music without sound bugs in the normal version. Especially if munt doesn't work because of driver signing issues (fuck you MS).

HOLY SCHMOLY! That's huge. They need to announce this bet it would sell more bun-dals. GOG is Santa. What else do you have up your sleeeve??????
The only games I don't own from this bundle are m&m9 and crusaders. I never played them. Should I buy them now? I see there are pretty bad reviews about them.

Yeah, they definitely do. Everyday I look at the new deal and just shrug it off. I'm pretty much waiting to see if there's a surprise until Jan 3rd, when I may just buy 1 or 2 games 50% off.

Can't speak for crusaders, have yet to try it. m&m9 is utter rubbish. I didn't like anything about it.
D:

Man, I wish this was a tiered bundle. I'm not interested in the original PC versions of M&M. I mostly want a heroes bundle

The bottom line is that you're not missing anything, so I'd say you can safely avoid them. The patched, vastly improved version of MM9 here on GOG is hugely underrated - probably mostly because people are so instantly turned-off by the ugly visuals - but after 1 and 8 it's still only the 7th-best MM, not counting "World of Xeen", which is unfair because it's 2-in-1. (2 is also enormously underrated and easily the 3rd best stand-alone game after 6 and 7.)

"Crusaders" really just wastes hour after hour of your time, mostly spent running from one place to another over vast, endlessly-boring distances. It's easily the worst of the games with "Might and Magic" in the title.

I know this post probably would have come in handy BEFORE the promo ended, but I just wanted to let you know that if you didn't buy them, you're not really missing anything. If you did, you could very well enjoy MM9, as I did. And if the first level of "Crusaders" already feels like a waste of your time, at least you know you can stop playing, because it doesn't get any better.

I know, right? They managed to post a dedicated announcement for the EA expansions, but not for this? What were the guys at GOG thinking? (To Judas: I'm looking at you, Thief!)

Anyway, there were three places around GOG where they did at least mention it (, here, and in here), but I really feel strongly that this deserves a formal announcement. I mean, with something like this it's like they're adding a new game to the catalog! How do you not at least write a short news post announcing that? Heck, I'll write it! If they were willing to post something but didn't want to bother creating it, I'd write the damn thing in a heartbeat.
